The Rangers are back at it again this afternoon against the Chicago Blackhawks after dropping a 7-4 decision to the Washington Capitals. The effort was there but alas so were the many defensive zone lapses with the same end result – another loss.
NYR enter 2-8-0 of their last ten, Blackhawks 4-6-0 with their last a win over an improving Montreal squad. Chicgago has a decent power play (23.5%/11th) and both teams have top ten penalty kills. The Rangers do have an advantage on face offs, Chicago is 31st to the Rangers 2nd in the league.
Line-up wise: No changes expected for the Rangers other than Domingue in for Quick. Chicago looks set to go with their regular line up as well, with Mrazek expected to start in goal (3.23 GAA, 0.893 SV%) – though perhaps Soderblom gets the nod after getting the W against Montreal (2.73 GAA, 0.910 SV%).
The zebras today are Kyle Rehman (1046 GP) and Kelly Sutherland (1563 GP), another NYR fan favorite. So far this season they both have called it pretty much down the middle. Rehman is far quicker with the whistle than Sutherland so make sure no slashing or elbows where Rehman can see!
Keys to a Ranger victory today: If they play with the same effort but also stop puck watching they can come away with the win.

This is the best the Rangers have played in quite some time. Constant puck control early in the game with speed always seems to work and make them play better. Controlling center ice, puck possession, and skating with speed appear to be ths answer. The forwards, also, are coming back. They should stop watching the game and start dictating.
The Rangers now have 5 players with double digit goals. For comparison, the Panthers have 4 and the Derbils also have 5. The craps have 7.

That’s not too bad but itself, except 3 of those 4 teams were Montreal, San Jose, and Anaheim. Also, after putting up a six-spot on us, they’ve scored 5 goals in their last four games. Two goals in their first game of the losing streak, and one in every other one. Smh

Perrault is a pass first undersized winger. After next season they will have an $11.4 million opening for him.
Wooo Hooo, the Rangers, after multiple tries this season, finally beat the last place team in the NHL. Drury now “all in” for trading Perrault, Othmann, Berard and their next three first round picks at the trade deadline for more UFA rental players for the playoff run.
ORF – Perrault needs to learn to stay on the perimeter more to fill that Ranger spot. Perrault still goes to the net, so they will need to break that habit.
I hear some people getting back on the hopium. As Michael might say, if you’re out don’t let them pull you back in.

They need to move LAF away from Panarin. His game has regressed. I’m not sure if he needs a kick in the butt or a pat on the back, but he is lost right now. His performance shouldn’t be completely tied to what Bread is doing, but it seems to be. A 1OA should drive play, not follow.

I watched the game on the DVR last night. Mika was much more energized. Maybe he can be a little better. The Breadline still needs to be better. They benefited from a few shots from far out finding the back of the net. That doesn’t happen often. More challenging opponents coming up. Let’s see if they can be competitive. The fourth line is going well. I don’t know if Rempe get back in right away.
