The Rangers continue their swing through the Sunshine state with a Monday night tilt against the team that beat them in last spring’s ECF, the Florida Panthers. Another loss and coach Laviolette may remember this as playing in the Sunset, not Sunrise, Florida.
NYR enter 2-8-0 of their last ten, Florida 6-4-0 with their last a loss against an improving Canadiens club. Even so, it is surprising that the Panthers are only -210 on the money line.
Line-up wise: No change from Saturday for the Rangers. Bob expected in net for Floriday with a 2.80 GAA and 0.895 SV%.
The refs tonight are Wes McCauley and Francois St-Laurent which will add to the dark cloud around the Rangers.
Keys to a Ranger victory today: Bob doesn’t have a great SV%. Try putting pucks on net (not behind or to the side) and maybe a few go in?

Before the game I was going to post that I expected them to be losing by at least one goal by the 17:00 mark. I was off by 4 seconds.
I truly hope they lose 12-0, the more embarrassing the better, so it hastens Drury and Lav being fired. This team has absolutely no heart, no guts and no respect for their fans.

They look AWFUL. Absolutely zero bite in their game, not including Berard. The team hasn’t gotten their stink on him yet.
A total overhaul from top to bottom is absolutely essential because this can no longer be abided. Having said that…I am starting to find this perpetual Chinese fire drill quite humorous. Why is Miller out there every single time the opposing team scores
They had it tied very briefly. Miller flung it around the boards to no one in particular.
So they finally did some good things in 2nd period and then the “dominant” d-man fails to play defense yet again. Have to guess that was the one good period for tonight as we usually don’t get two good periods. I could be wrong, but have they come back in any game this year when trailing after the second period? I don’t think so and I doubt tonight will be any different. I expect a 6-2 final, another Panther goal and then the proverbial ENG to finish it

This game was a Shesterkin special though. He was AWFUL. We got outgoalied by a goaltender who backstops the defending champs and still sucks.
While Dolan is mourning his father, maybe some extended family will bring his attention to the fact that the hockey team he owns is the worst team in the league. Then maybe we will start getting the changes we want and need.
Best overall game in a while. Even counting Dallas. They survived Dallas. They controlled most of this game. Igor does not factor into those positives though.
Seems fitting to end 2024 with another loss to Florida. Pretty much sums up the year and the vast difference between contenders and pretenders.
I will keep on saying it until he is traded. Anyone who thinks Miller is an NHL defensemen does not have a clue. HIs partner no 17 had a very rough game also. Cannot understand how adults who are paid a fortune to play D keep making errors you would not expect from children. OH well. At least this year is over.

The Rangers have looked good at times in both of the last two games, moreso in this one. Meanwhile, Igor is busy giving up 9 goals on his last 39 shots against. That is not a winning formula. He better not play like this when he’s breaking the bank next season.

Ranger games have been unwatchable lately. This one at least was watchable. But jeez that was some beer league defense by Miller on the 4th goal. Miss the poke check, get walked, panic clear the puck from the net front right to the Panther point, and don’t pick up anybody in front of the net.

Hey Alex, I know you dislike the term, but Kreider has largely been my favorite ranger since 2012. So no offense!
I’d take five more Trochecks if we could get them. I think the Tromance was a nice third wheel to the primary Huggy dynamic but those two clearly had a different level of bromance going on. Fun while it lasted and there was much to hug about.
They are 4-15 in last 19 and we are far from rock bottom.

Allow me to disagree with you Alex I’ve been a Ranger fan as long as Larry Brooks has and a lot of what he says makes sense period. Let’s start off by saying goodbye to Kam, Zibanejad, Keider. Shesterken, & maybe Fox & Lundgren. We could get alot in return & we ave a lot of youth coing up through the system . Nothings wrong with Laviolette. He’s been around a while. Drury has learned a lot particularly with his handling of Trouba & Goodrow. The latter was missed in the locker room. Hire a GM. Let’s not do a massive rehab just a slight redecorating.
Drury learned he has has no leadership in the locker room and several dogs that need to get moved. Better now than wasting assets at deadline
If they do the full teardown Drury shouldn’t do it. He’ll get returns like Sather did when he blew it up and they will be awful for 10+years. Just move the pending UFAs at the deadline and leave the rest for the next guy. Last night’s team can be watchable with better goaltending.A team of 20 year olds will make them like Buffalo.

I watched the replay and KAM’s clearing attempt on the third goal wasn’t that bad. Berard was on the boards, but didn’t even slow the puck down and it went right to the FL. Berard has to be much better defensively. He and Othman had terrible +/- numbers in Hartford even though they both scored reasonable well. Their NHL games need to be better. KAM got beat wide as usual on the GWG. Has no one worked with him on his lateral movement? He has been in the league for 4 years and still relies on the poke check rather than moving a step to his left and hitting the attacker. It’s a flaw in his game he has done nothing to correct. Bad coaching or is he uncoachable?
