E3 here. Nothing terribly new to report. CBJ lost 5-0 to the Caps. Rangers will hopefully add to their now 1 game losing streak come Saturday. GMEN poised for a big game (and win) over the always dangerous #12 and fellow packers.

Cheater!
I’d like to hear carps predictions on gmen-packers…
The USA – Canada final was an incredible game. Very impressed with many players from both teams. USA goalie, Parsons especially.
Bulldog – I believe the Rangers will beat CBJ and that the GMEN will beat the Packers.
Kunin was bad. So many plays died on his stick. And his play before the second Canadian goal was just atrocious. I also noticed that Fitzgerald was struggling. Dubois had a lousy tournament but came close to being the hero.
On the positive side, Chabot was amazing and Greenway was in on every play. McAvoy was something special, too.
But holy jeez, what a game to watch. It wasn’t well played; the mistakes are what made it entertaining.
Maybe I’m missing something on Landeskog but he’s a 20 goal/50 point guy and he’s making 4.5 mill a year. I don’t think that deal makes us better if you’re sending Kreider or Hayes the other way.
I loved one of the USA players referring to Troy Terry as T.J. Oshie.

Interesting read on the Avalanche forwards. I don’t like Lambert most of the time, but this is some pretty good analysis.
If Clendening was paired with Klein, can theyes be called a “clandestine pair”?
Cccp – stay away from Lola, in Miami FLA, she walks like a woman but talks like a man.
Wick, I for one don’t think that you’re deeming anyone a bad player by saying you’d trade them. At the same time I’m not trying to overvalue anyone that I say I wouldn’t trade right now.
It’s always about ‘does this make the team better?’ and I just don’t see it in Landeskog if Kreider goes the other way. And especially when it comes to Hayes, who may not be as talented but at 2.4 million is netting us 50-60 this year, it’s hard to beat that for value. At least to me. Again though, If we’re talking Duchene it’s a different story. With him though it’s about the 6 million dollar salary. But you upgrade skill level, production and certainly faceoff ability (big time upgrade). He and Zibanejad would be a tremendous 1-2 punch at center. That’s assuming a deal for Step really does get made elsewhere. That’s a lot of maneuvering in today’s NHL.
Giants 17
Patriots 14
Eli Manning, come get the Stanley Cup
LOL E3… Lola retired…her “sister” has taking over the business 😉
Rob – that likely could be the final score. Maybe
GMen 24
Pack 10
Wait, did I miss yet another World Junior Championship?
Team USA had to issue a restraining order on. Pidto. Seems he was wearing just a raincoat and his press credentials.
Fitzgerald was going for an Oscar on his delay of game penalty. Either that or his vision is about 20-800.
James (and others for that matter)
Please refer to one of my first posts when this topic came up…I listed 4 players I would not trade in a deal for landeskog…miller, Kreider, zpack, mcdonut…and one player (this years Hayes) that would take a lot of prying (A lot) before I would include him in the deal. Those players I listed are just too good of a VALUE at this point to deal (even though I think none of the forwards are superior to landeskog at this point in their careers).
–
To sum it up, i never said trade Kreider, quite the contrary.

Pet jay for me please 😉
That last SO attempt by Canada was pretty sad. A no legged goalie could have made that save.
Why do you want to trade THE? Why do you hate hom? Why do you hate the hated one?
Fast, Pirri, Hank, and Shay for Kog and Due-Shane!!!
Step, Fast, and Hank for Kog and due Shane
Wicky hates THE and Hated one. Why?
Landon Collins and Snacks make 2016 all pro team. Gggggggggggmen
Why am I talking to myself?
Hank, Stepan, Fast, Pirri for McDavid and TAM
“That last SO attempt by Canada was pretty sad. A no legged goalie could have made that save.”
It was actually a good attempt; Parssons bit big time on the fake. Roy just lost the puck before he could bring it to his backhand.
28th
There is no combination of players and picks we could offer the Oilers that would result in them sending us McDavid.
But still, a no legged goalie makes that save. Hard to actually say Parsons doesn’t make the save regardless…
No doubt re: McDavid. I’m just sitting here goofing off readying to take my big pup for a walk – trying to generate any conversation….
No, no saying he doesn’t make the save regardless, just that if Roy had maintained control, it would have taken a pretty massive recovery from Parssons to make the stop.
Edmonton (the entire city) would be forced to flee Alberta and Canada if McDavd was ever traded. We have good friends in Hinton (Triangulated northwest of Calgary and southwest of Edmonton) and McDavid is a national treasure according to them….
But still, whether Roy took his eye off the puck, or it rolled, or he just lifted his stick early, it was a very poor finish.
Few poorer.
Buchnevich to play for the Pack tonight.
Especially given the circumstances. Was it a choke? Or just a bad mistake? Nevertheless, I’m sure Roy feels worse than a pile of skids and Genos as he woke up this morning.
I think they would recover if he were traded later on in his career. But in the salary cap world, having him basically under their absolute control for the next decade is impossible to trade away.
Here’s an interesting question: What do you pay him on his next contract? This is the kind of player some team would throw a max contract at as an RFA. At the same time, he doesn’t even have arb rights yet. And handing out long term, high value second contracts hasn’t worked out with other pieces of Edmonton’s core.
Interesting note on Buchnevich is that he was assigned to Hartford, not sent on a conditioning stint. I believe this helps the cap but hits Buchnevich in the wallet.
Buchnevich has been sent to Hartford. It makes sense even if he is not ready to play. With the Rangers on their “bye” he can’t participate in any official practices. By going to Hartford he can get in all the practice time he needs and get a couple of conditioning games in as well.
BTW, he was assigned to Hartford and is not on a conditioning stint so he can stay down longer than two weeks if it is needed. AV said Buch is playing for the Wolf Pack tonight and will proceed from there. Double-Bubble also said Nash is getting closer to playing, but he is out tomorrow thus depriving CBJ fans a chance to boo him.
I can relate to Roy on several occasions as a tennis player so as not to feel high and almighty.
Sounds like after the off week they will have Nash, and Buchnevich back. Zibanijad not to far behind. Good bye Hrivek, Good Bye Hrivek, Good Bye Hrivek, I’m glad to see you go!
I think McDavid will be second only to TGO in terms of talent and accomplishments (not necessarily goals/points) once it’s all said and done.
Bulldog – ribbet is prolly a 2nd ballot HoF’er
McDavid is an amazing player. Not sure I’ve seen any player in hat has his 7th gear – especially in such tight spaces – as he’s attacking the net. Astounding acceleration, really.
Currently it’s -17 with windchill in GB.
Robbie Gould will break a foot kicking that rock on Sunday.
Hrivek has been a waste of a roster spot. Would much rather have had Jensen the entire time,or Glass.
E3,
I don’t have a feeling one way or the other, on the Gmen on Sunday. I don’t trust them.
All of Canada is in mourning while 99% of America asks: ‘What is a world juniors?’
Rangers trade Kreider, Stepan, Zuccarello, Nash, Zibanejad, McDonagh, Miller, Holden, Lundqvist, Klein, Skjei, Lindberg, Fast, Grabner, Buchnevich, and all the first rounders for the remainder of time, plus a fourth-rounder in 2017, to Edmonton for McDavid.
Carp – I’d like to hold on to the 4th round pick (well we actually traded it for Holden)
Otherwise deal seems fair and at least we keep Raanta
Carp, that trade would violate the rule against perpetuities.
But, Edmonton says no.
E3, and it’s how he accelerates, all on his edges, without even taking strides. It’s incredible.
CARP—There you go, trading off our draft picks just like Sather.
RR2 – its as if McDavid has some kind of turbo boost in his skates. Spot on regarding his no stride acceleration. I’ve never seen any player skate with such a powerful burst
.
AV would never allow Fast to be included in the trade.
E3 said “powerful burst”
Rob – I almost said powerful thrust.
Fast for McDavid and a #1
Re: Carp’s 2:30 – great trade but we can’t include McDonagh. 🙂

he’s Ace? Then who’s Gary?
[blood pressure spikes, shakes fist at E3 as he collapses, dies]
Eric predicted that would happen to you
Side not I landed in Fort Lauderdale and was at delta terminal in baggage claim 1/2 hr before the gunman opened fire. Shooting occurred as we had just got rental car to leave airport.
So Rangers go to Columbus with McDavid, Hayes, Pirri, Hrivik, Puempel, Staal, Girardi & Auntie.
Plus without AV, since they’d have to fire him in order to trade Couch.
Then they can get McIlrath back.
Hopefully pirri goes with hrivik to htfd….never to return.
Glad you’re safe, Eric
I’m getting a distinct vibe that you don’t like Pirri and Hrivik.
Holy crap, Eric. Thank God you’re safe!
Wow, Eric. I’m just really glad you and your family are OK
Family function hopefully able fly home Sunday morning
So sad to hear about Officer McDonald. Prayers for him and his family.
My 6 yr old whose home with my father says to me via phone just now dad he wasn’t going to shoot you if you and mommy were there because we like the Rangers right? I didn’t even know how to respond.
Wow Eric….just wow. Glad you and your fan are safe.
Fam
Just shows how fleeting life and health are. Both from the fla shooting and Steven McDonald shooting 30 years ago. God bless all the victims
Eric – Glad to hear you and the misses are okay. It is incredible how fragile life can be and how life, like sports, is a game of inches and luck.
The best response for your son was to agree with him because it would probably ease his mind the best. Thoughts and prayers to Eric and Mrs Eric and, of course, to Officer McDonald. When I had my season tickets I always made sure to keep those tickets as my (small) way to honor him. For all the crap we have put up with the Rangers they always treated him, his family and foundation with respect.
Eric – good thing you pulled in 30 minutes after the wackadoodle went wacky. I just don’t understand why someone would senselessly hurt/kill others. If you’re that despondent about anything, put the end of the barrel and pull the trigger. No need to bring others into your own pity party.
Put the barrel in your mouth ^^^%
Gary – “Commissioner, you finger the perp, and we will dust him”
Commissioner – “uhh, I have to go now”
Gary – “come friend of friend, let’s go find big head”
We will fist him ^^^
Holy sh*t, Eric. Glad you’se safe.

I guess you don’t understand mental illness, e3. I say that as your friend from Carps blog. Some people do horrible things. And it’s not always entirely their fault.
Very glad your family is ok Eric. 🙂
And thoughts with Steven McDonald and his family.
Tony – sorry mate, but if it was one of your loved ones that this crazy **** killed, I imagine you’d feel differently. I have seen mental illness up fairly close, and there’s never a reason to go out and kill someone.
Tony – would you tell me your name from carp’s blog?
I lost your lindros email, so I will have another member of the blog email u my name and contact. And would you call me Monk? This name is a tribute to Tony in AZ. And also meant to be funny because my OCD behaviors are similar to the character Monk portrayed by Shalhoub.
I probably would feel differently, but there’s a chance I might not. There are many victims and family members of victims that choose to forgive the perpetrator of heinous acts. There is never a GOOD reason to kill. But some people literally can’t distinguish right from wrong. Or dont have the mental capacity to do so. It’s why legal defenses exist to protect such defendants.
If they can’t distinguish right from wrong, they’re in my way.
E3, did you ever make that account? Want to cover Torts fest 2k17?
Journal News sucks, simple as that.
Atta boy, coos
2 Potvin sucks whistles so far at the Panther game.
Rr2 – I haven’t made my account yet but will cover the Rangers beating CBJ 5-0, with JT Milluh scoring the GWG
Monk – no worries.
RIP Steven McDonald. What a courageous hero.
I just read he suffered a heart attack. He died? 🙁
A third Potvin sucks whistle.
Eric, wowsa, too close for comfort but sure glad your safe. I was there a week ago and even that gave me a shiver.
They cancelled most of the Jagr celebration tonight because of the FLL incident. I just don’t see how one relates to the other. If it was terrorism, I understand. But it wasn’t.
They even had swat at the bb&t center tonight.
Apparently the shooter was from New Jersey, discharged from the New Jersey national guard in 2016.
It’s always terrible, an incident like this, but it’s always a little worse when it’s a vet imo.

Sorry, I’m extremely perturbed with this
It’s understandable.

Carp, re: Buchnevich,
Please remind me. His AHL situation is like Diaz last year, in that he can be sent down for a limited period of time, otherwise be allowed back to Europe, correct?
Pretty sure that’s right, Doodie. Hopefully he’s back in game shape soon
Man, winning the gold medals in international competition, especially by beating Canada or Russia, gets me SUPER jacked up.
That does sound right, Doodie. I recall Buchnevich having an attitude that annoyed me in that he would come to America but refused to spend time in the minors. But he’s going to need a conditioning stint
RR2,
Buchnevich won’t be there long enough to worry about it. He will be in the Rangers lineup first game back from there break.
G
Good morning, boneheads!
Awful news from Florida yesterday. Glad Eric and family are safe.
Buchnevich is going to try his new “back” in Hartford. He won’t be there long enough to lose too much money
You’d be surprised, Ilb. There’s plenty to spend your money on in Connecticut!
From the sound of today’s papers, Nash and Buchnevich back after the break (Friday at msg where I’ll be in attendance) Zibanejad skating on his own feeling good but not practicing yet. So barring any set backs perhaps an entire team before or by the beginning of February.
Eric that’s scary stuff. Really glad you’re alright obviously.
Not going to discuss that disgusting crap on here today but it’s just awful that this keeps happening
Manny, he’s getting AHL salary while in Hartford since he’s on two way contract
“I’ve often said this about being a #NYR, the greatest privilege is the people you met along the way, and there is no one better than Steven McDonald” – Adam Graves
Hope Officer McDonald recovers.
Glad Eric was out of Ft. L. in time
I know he will be back ASAP, but I remember reading reports that he could go back to Russia if he was assigned at all, and I remember Carp disputing those reports. That’s what I am trying to straighten out.
For instance, Blueshirt Banter is reporting that by being assigned, he could choose to go back to Russia, and I am pretty sure they are mistaken.
You would think the odds would eventually kick in, and that some lone wolf gunman would unknowingly shoot up a gathering of other violent crazy ISIS types
JR: “Can anyone out there help me out? I’m fishing around for a plastic sturgeon.
I remember Carp mentioning Buchnevich’s agreement was similar to Diaz’s in terms of Hartford
I know, Ilb. I was just being a jackwagon
There is no written-in-stone agreement regarding Buchnevich and the AHL. They have simply agreed that if he becomes an AHL type, like Jensen or Hrivik, then he would have the option to go back to Russia. Clearly they don’t see him in those terms. And I’m pretty sure he agreed to this conditioning assignment. There’s zero danger that this means he might opt back to Russia. Zero.
Carp – it was written in stone but Mel Brooks dropped it on Mount Sinai
The hospital?
On trading Kteider, and I’m not saying we should trade him at all. However you don’t trade Kreider from a need, you only trade him from another teams need that’s how you clean house in a trade! Most of the time that was Sathers problem! Very glad you and your family are safe!
Eric very glad you and your family are safe!
I’m more concerned (but not very) about Buchnevich having chronic back problems at a young age than I am of him being an AHLer or going back to Russia. For all the worry about him having some crazy flaws and being a liability in the offseason, he hasn’t looked like anything but a good young player when he played. Was fine last night even scored a pp goal from the side of the net.
Is Mel Brooks related to Philip Rivers?
Speaking of chronic injuries, what’s the under/over on games Nash will miss the rest of the way with his annual groin issues? Ill say 12 is a safe number
When Buch comes back, various low-life chitheads will put a target on his back. Right now, they’re trying to drive Vesey out of the league.
FG
Lmao re history of the world
I think Mel brooks is related to river Phoenix and Phillip Rivers is related to Jamie Mcginn who plays out in Phoenix. Ironically, mcginn’s favorite movie is blazing saddles directed by Mel Brooks.
Obviously the word is out that vesey cannot be left unintimidated around the net. As he grows into a bigger stronger power forward they’ll be sorry
Barry McGuire, who was axed by Jerry McGuire to show him the money, believes we’re on the eve of destruction.
Isn’t vesey like 24? Not sure he’ll grow too much more
But he could grow nasty and become a scoring Tie Domi. 🙂
Just listened to an interview with Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (born in the USA) who graduated from Tennessee State University and I literally could not understand one word he said.
He’ll be 24 in May, Wick. And unless he has some weird disease where he can’t put on weight or muscle for the rest of his life maybe we should hold off on trading him just for the remainder of this season 🙂
Janooris Jenkins in and JPP probable for tomorrow, Coos
James, except McGinn plays in Glendale, not Phoenix 🙂
Vesey can sure put on some pounds. Lot of room to grow there.
There are a couple of very crappy NFL playoff games today. Yaaaawwwwnnn.
Hell, I started seriously lifting at age 40 and became twice as strong as I was at 20. Doesn’t mean I could play hockey, but sheer strength, yes.
JPP, really? Shocker to me.
Hell, centers in the NBA early-on tried to run Jeff Ruland out of the league until they realized they couldn’t.
Then the fathers at Iona tried to run him out, and it took a while.
lol I should get an A for effort, Carp!
Coos newest report says he’s officially out. Chance that Randall Cobb won’t play though so there’s that.
fathers of the students?
Dont really care much who wins the super bowl, as i expect the Patriots to do so, but man, what other Giants fan wouldnt sacrifice his life for a 3rd Giants Super Bowl over the pats.
Believe and it will happen.
2 stories connect in that Steven McDonald’s father would have flown from Fort Lauderdale but will drive instead.
I saw on the twitter feed that Prust made mention of Steven in past tense (he was former recipient) but I believe that is jumping the gun.
“Brandon Prust @BrandonPrust8 1 hour ago
It was 1 of my proudest hockey moments. Receiving the Steven McDonald award playing for the @NYRangers. may he rest in peace. #itwasanhonour
Grow and adding muscle and weight are two different things to me. My kids will still grow. I added weight and muscle when I played in college.
–
My apologies for not being able to decipher the differentiation in your meanings 😉
I thought I read he passed away
I believe Officer McDonald is still in critical condition …
Wick, I’m still growing. (well, not hair).
Silver and Black missing 3 Pro Bowlers… doesn’t look good
Raiders are killing me right now…come on Oakland
Wick – pride and poise; love my Raiders but they lost the season when the coach had their star QB throwing with a 19pt lead in the 4thQ
