The fragrance coming from the Garden last night was one only a rat could love. Fitting then that the Rangers would go on to lose in convincing fashion to Florida, the team that bested them in the ECF last spring.
The game was over at 02:42 of the first after Lundell (5) scored at 00:44 followed by Verhaeghe (1). Lafreniere (4) would cut it to 2-1 at 04:44 of the second but Florida’s Bennet (6!) put it away for good at 06:59 of the third.
Though the score may have been close, the game never really felt it. The Rangers were sloppy throughout and appeared to be indifferent to the fact there were paying customers in the house. Oh, and Florida did not even have Barkov playing last night and others who were instrumental to their cup run are gone.
Ranger brass sent Rempe to Hartford last night. Will be interesting to see who else may go when/if Vesey is cleared to play.
Up next, Anaheim, Saturday night at 7:00 PM EDT at MSG, coverage on MSG, Victory+ and KCOP-13

Shesty gets bumped…scrum in front on net and Tkachukd facerakes Lindgren wearing a shield for broken jaw. No response. Thats all you need to know. Until this team gets some balls they will go nowhere
So here is what we have to look forward to – Rempe is banished, in part for cap but largely because Lavi doesn’t want to play him. Brodude is in… until VC comes back. I’ll grant that maybe VC has a little more sandpaper than Brodzinski but teams aren’t exactly going to be fearful seeing Jimmy coming their way.
Meanwhile, in most embarrassing fashion, the best back check of the last week was by Chytil a few nights ago. Unfortunately he still doesn’t understand the concept of winning faceoffs.
Lindgren/Fox, Miller/Trouba really need to return as the current pairings are just not good. Schneider and PinkPanther can do rock paper scissors for the right side on 3rd pair.
Brooks (who I am not): “If I were an anonymous poster on a message board, I’d go into a daily rant about the marginalization of Matt Rempe, scratched for the fifth time in seven games, but you should have gotten my point by now.”
and number 5 on waivers. we’ll see around 2 pm whether he gets claimed or not
the jones freaks on twitter are up in arms about him sitting. note that is case whether we win or lose
i can copy and paste too bobby
i wouldn’t call the semis nowhere.
better than all but 3 other teams
but you do love to hate them bobby so not unexpected
Until they get somebody with the stones to grab either Tkachuk and/or Bennett by the throat nothing will change.
those posters are sure up in arms on jones sitting
which is why many of us wanted chytil gone. he is not built for the playoffs
enjoy your president trophy banners Alex –this team is soft
we won’t get past the devs in playoffs so fla will be irrelevant
but Chytil has more balls than the DJ … he’s not afraid to carry the puck through the middle or to the net
we won’t get the presidents trophy this year or make the 3rd rd . and will lose to more talented team in the devs.
i’ve been advocating getting rid of chytil for a few years to help with the softness problem.
It baffles me what anyone things Jones could do that would have made a difference? He is certainly not a lock down, stay at home defender. Also, grain of salt a so few games: Mancini 6.08 blks/60, 2.76 GvA/60 to Jones 0.95 blks/60 and 5.71 GvA/60. Neither has been a hitting machine. And to this point Mancini has given as much offense as anyone could reasonably have expected from Jones.
chytil does not have more balls than any player in nhl bobby. keep hating though
the DJ doesnt carry the puck against Florida …hes scared stiff
Perhaps we can agree that Chtyil is not exactly a head banger and has largely stayed away from significant contact his entire career while at the same time acknowledging that Zibanejad has not been mixing it up either, regardless of the additional responsibilities he has.
maybe you can make the case that Jones is more mobile than Lindy but than you are giving up snarl
Chytils is not a head banger but he’s not afraid to carry the puck through the neutral zone
I think Zika’s problem is complacency, not fear. He plays like a guy with a paycheck that comes every week regardless of what he does on the ice. I’ve lost track – did he get married recently? Have a kid? Get a new dog?
i’m glad you’re not a scout for the rangers. if you were i’d have to find a new team to root for.
watch tennis Alex
Brooksie
Last year, the Lafreniere-Vincent Trocheck-Artemi Panarin line was on for 54 Rangers goals and 39 against, a 58.06 percent. While explosive this year, the unit has been on for six goals for and six goals against. That’s not the kind of tradeoff the Blueshirts are willing to make, even if Igor Shesterkin continues to shine as the team’s brightest star.Â
The Chris Kreider-Zibanejad-Reilly Smith unit has been on for three goals scored and three goals against, yielding two with a minus-two in this defeat. That is not good enough for this line, either. Tit for tat at five-on-five is not good enough for the club’s most talented players.
The imbalance at five-on-five has been constructed by the bottom six. The Will Cuylle-Filip Chytil-Kaapo Kakko line has been on for seven goals scored and none against while the Adam Edstrom-Sam Carrick-Jonny Brodzinksi unit has been on for two for and none against.
So far, the best thing about the Rangers in the last two days is getting to watch Alex and Bobby rekindling their oroboros of a fight over Cheadle.
milestone win for bob
400th
the only reason i’d miss wicky even a little bit is he kept bobby in his place
now thats funny
Chytil back check was when they were on a PP and Joe Missaplenty made him out to be Guy Carbenau. Guy is clueless on what he should be doing away from puck.
move Schneider to Foxy’s left. Wrong side for a righty D but that is your top pair.
Meeka is here forever and a day. Maybe remove his 1st line match up responsibility and let the stalwart 3rd line shows its mettle against top lines.
Thanks for that tidbit, Alex. We didn’t need to be reminded of him beating Hank’s record in a game against us.
Also, I would like to put Mancini’s hat in the ring for partnering up with Fox. He’s young enough that if Lavy told him to specifically be the defensive guy on a pairing, he’d try his darnedest to do it.
per my comment above; make the 3rd line match up against top lines like a real 3rd line and it should be a bloodbath
Arguing who is tougher between Meeka and Flip is just funny
Brea’s habits rub off on his line mates. Mr October is turning Laffy into a playmaker who doesn’t get his sweater dirty.
Zibanejad would grab his own throat before he would grab anyone else’s.
Take the seat cushion off PP #1 and watch him pout like sissy. Fox needs a monster on his left, the Rangers don’t have one. They need a hammer at 3C, and a legit #1 pivot. It will be a few years of pain until Kusty, Trouba, Lindgren, and Kreider are gone, and Zibanejad begs to be traded. It will be a very long time before the Blueshirts raise the cup. Sad but true. I’m trying to be positive here.
Sure, why not?

New pairs today: Miller – Fox Lindgren – Trouba Jones – Schneider Looks like Mancini comes out #NYR
Drury should be concerned that they did not have any motivation for this game considering the beat down in the semis
Lindgren and Trouba will be a disaster
That’s cool I’m sure that Jones will look real strong against the offensive juggernaut Ducks that are near last in league scoring so the Twiddiots can sing his praises.
Interesting conundrum for roster management since Mancini looks like a difference maker for the future but you can’t have a waiver-eligible offensive D prospect like Jones just rot on the vine, and NYR have been successfully in the past trading such for more than fair value…
not many options trade wise until deadline…..that means Laviollette needs to send messages via lineup changes/minutes/power play time
per colin quick 1st off ice
per elliotte below
We will see where this goes over the next 24-48 hours, but hearing talks have intensified between NYR and Alexis Lafreniere
per larry
Rangers closing in on Lafreniere extension. Told by industry sources it will be seven year deal coming in at under $7.6M per.
not bad…his prime years
So… we’ve been looking to see if it is possible to move off of WordPress. At this point, there are few alternatives and am down to two.
I’ve set up a demo site for one of these. While it can be made to be a little nicer visually, there is not a whole lot of fancy to it, just posts and comments. So I’ve not even tried at this stage beyond a few obvious things. FYI, there are left/right hidden side bars with >< to open. You may also be given the option to “hide” something after seeing it the first time.
The comments are nested and allow for youtube embeds. They have the usual “like” button but also a *gasp* disagree button. A downside for some (though most places are this way now) is that you must “join” to comment.
Would appreciate feedback, feel free join, login and then post a few comments and let me and cccp know your thoughts. I know some of you are desktop or phone only, so if something is terrible or great, might want to mention from what device. Again, this is just a test, in the event of an actual emergency, duck and cover!

You should definitely look into Discord. Create an account; create our Rangers Report server; poke around a bit. For how we operate in here, it’s probably a better option. We can access it in a browser and via its own app.
“Zibanejad looked tentative and wasn’t even credited with a shot attempt in 19:20 time on ice, despite avoiding the matchup with Barkov that plagued him in the conference final”
Laffy is now the highest non-power play forward in the NHL!
Really fair deal and no full NMC/NTC helps in case things change down the road.
of all the skaters in blue last night, Swedish House Mafia should have had the most to prove. he just doesn’t get it.
KC and The Sunshine Band Rangers!
Someone do a welfare check on E3, Phil is dead. Long live Phil!
Anybody know what happen to wicky, really liked his post. He has a clue.
i’ve seen him post on ny posts articles from time to time.
he banned too many people here and was upset when others unbanned them
see that othmann not playing tonight. got hurt last weekend. not sure how long he’s out
from the keegan jarvis twitter
Scratches: D Chad Ruhwedel F Blade Jenkins F Alex Belzile (DTD, upper) F Brennan Othmann (week-to-week, upper)
I’m still in contact with Wicky.
he’s doing great, enjoying the Rangers and enjoying life. We texted just last week as a matter of fact!
thank you alex for the info on wicky.
miss wicky on here, he was knowledgable on hockey.
he was also very close to ILB so the passing of his very good friend hit hard i’m sure.
glad to see the admirals comment that he’s doing well.
Wicky lit his own wick…went boom!
So tonight we get our first look at the new, richer Laffy
The kid’s been a gamer, a gleeful mate, and an enthusiastic contributor since Day One, if a bit over-rated. Deserves more PP time.
UPDATE: Jake Leschyshyn has been recalled from the Hartford Wolf Pack.
If I had hair on my head left to scratch…
he’s just up in case someone gets hurt in warmups, or gets sick. Basically break glass in case of emergency. They will probably do this every game until Vesey is back.
Zac Jones in for Victor Mancini, Jonathan Quick in goal tonight vs. Ducks
Jones replaces PinkPanther; Quick Nestle’s in.
Kappo, though a conscientious objector, and scoring-challenged, is one tough dude.
Ah, all it took was 1 loss in convincing fashion to begin to see some signs of life here. It had been somewhat quiet here up til game 7.
hartford coach in presser answered 4-6 weeks upper body for othmann
always more comments on internet when rangers lose
Trade Othman at the draft.
So I get it, it isn’t going to happen. Would you trade the Persian Puff straight up for Charlie Coyle?
I would trade him straight up for a 76 year old Bobby Orr
still more likely that chytil will be gone after this year
Because the DJ is untradeable
so you’ll be complaining for a few more years i guess
so dealing in reality it will still help a lot getting rid of chytil before next season
yes along with most of the blog …because he’s a bird …specifically an albatross
bobby
you’re way over the top in your trolling and complaining
Now that the two football teams are fall intents done, along with the couldn’t quite get there Mets. Hard to get too into early season hockey when those others are in full swing still.
On the radio call of the Panther’s first goal, Dave Maloney didn’t like Fox’s decision to leave his position in the middle of the ice. But he did.
Laffy, who is at the center ice logo, is the uppermost Ranger in the video. He is in perfect position to see the whole play develop right in front of him, and what does he do?? He allows Lundell who is right beside him to skate unmolested right down the “Royal Road.” I especially enjoy the single skateboard kick he gives at the blue line before veering off to to do who the f knows what.
This is not winning hockey and he needs to be shown some tough love before it’s too late.
https://www.espn.com/video/clip/_/id/41989122
maloney must be forgetting his many faults as a ranger
then again he did co star in the ooh la la sassoon commercial along with duguay and espo
No question Laffy has a ways to go defensively and 200 foot game in general. Seems to come in fits and starts
Your Go Time is scheduled for a 6:45 PM drop. I just want to know, is KCOP-13 a tv channel that only cops are allowed to watch?
how was hedberg conned into doing that
i had isles fans mocking that with ooh la la so soon when we lost
hated duguay as a ranger
You’re deflecting, but anyway..
Adam Fox $9.5 million per year.
Per https://www.hockeyzoneplus.com/salaries/61018-dave-maloney
Maloney earned US $300,000 (US $1,420,454 in today’s dollars) .. for his career.
721. i consider the source and i’m not a big fan of maloney considering how his career went
My post was primarily about Laffy, although I wanted to put it in context. One players questionable decision leads to another player making a more egregious mistake.
It stands on it’s own however that Laffy, once again, let an opposing player go unchecked right to the net.
Just looked at the standings. Peg is on a roll! Old friends PigOink 1G7A and Namestoolong 2G3A. Like wise the Crapitals – dropped the opener against Derbils, won next five. Thought that team was finally dead and buried.
LGR!!
Broken arm or wrist?
Hope he doesn’t fall on his wallet.
