Just a quick post game today. CCCP said there might be something more extensive from one of you but looks like he is sleeping in today 🤷‍♂️
The Rangers regrouped last night and came away with a 4-1 win. Not the most impressive performance but two points is two points.
Lafreniere (2) opened the scoring at 11:45 of the 1st, assisted by Panarin and Jones. Detroit tied it up on a late goal with just two seconds left in the period, 1-1 after one.
The only goal of the second came was a PPG from who else, Kreider (3) assisted by huggy twin Zibanejad and Panarin. 2-1 NYR after two.
Reilly Smith gave the Rangers a bit of breathing room early in the third, netting his first in a blue sweater at 04:51, assisted by Zibanejad. Mika (1) would add a goal of his own at 18:38, an ENG assisted by Panarin and Trouba.
Shesterkin had 31 saves on the night. Trocheck somehow ended with the most TOI, 25:07.
Up next, Detroit again at Little Caesars Arena, Wednesday night at 7:30 PM EDT. ESPN+ has the game.

Trocheck continues his mastery of the dot going 17/28 61%. Mika was 9/15 60%, Carrick 4/6 and…wait for it…Chytil 7/14 50%!

I went to the game last night and sent CCCP a writeup a little while ago. Not a barn burner, but you get a fuller picture seeing them live occasionally. Igor was the #1 star. The press is rooting for Mika to get going.
I was unable to catch the game live. Forced to watch the replay. Just too much going on right now. My on assessment of what I saw. I believe we are seeing Mika Dajenabiz transform into Matts Naslund before he retired right before our eyes.
college hockey has started. The Rangers have quite a few prospects in college. Emery had an assist. Perreault had 1 and 1. Fortescue did not score. Laba had a 6 point weekend. 1 and 5. Ty Henricks ( someone to follow), had 1 and 1. Lamb had an assist.
Funny how the third line has no true centers and the game before the 4th line had 3. Hoping nothing but good health to Flip, but who is backup 3C if he should go down? Last year they moved up the 4C which didn’t provide much.
Laba and Roebreck are potential 3Cs in 2-3 seasons.
Smart how NYR is figuring out if the draftee can’t make it at center or you have too many, much easier to move them to the wing then the other way around.
Like Tro’s game but if he had a halfway decent shot, he would pot 50 on that line.

Igor was very good, but he has to be if you continue to play Miller w Fox and endure the learning curve for Jones.

How many damn times have we said “not the prettiest, but take the 2 points and run.” I’ve never seen a team serve up so many unsatisfying wins (and we all know why they’re getting those wins).
This team refuses to consistently play the right way. The way it will take to get past a team like Florida. Someone wake me up when they do, because I’ve never watched a team rely so heavily on goaltending as this one does. Not going to cut it. Ask Lundqvist… I’m sure he’d offer up some sage advice….
Once again, get ready for regular season success and a post-season playoff run that will bank heavily on goaltending and special teams. Team defense/5 on 5 play/forechecking be damned….

Folks need to realize that Mika is marking the other teams 1C,which may make him the designated checking center, but more of a statement on Flips inability to understand 200 ft hockey along with Bread’s line lack of commitment to Dzone.
This role will negatively impact Mika’s stats and game but understand it’s because Drury wanted it this way or he would not have burdened the team by reupping Flip who cannot be traded now as damaged goods and is slotted in as a offensively focused 3C with no clue in Dzone.
