I heard Zegras gives good hugs
too bad anaheim wouldn’t take chytil back to rid us of that problem for next 3 years
zegras isn’t a checking center or physical …wasn’t that the need or is it just getting rid of Chytil?
i’m not big on zegras. but i really want chytil gone. i;d still buy him out this summer
but that doesnt solve the problem
still solves an existing problem for last 3 years.
Chytil will be our 3C until his not. Tic Tic Tic.
It doesn’t solve the problem if Brodzyksi, Carrack or Edstrom is the 3C …it probably worsens it
The #NYR re-signed 34 y/o RD Chad Ruhwedel to 1 year deal NHL 775K Minors 400K Guaranteed 450K
chytil 337 g 64g 80a 144pt
zegras 211 g 55g 99a 154pt
Chytil Salary 4.4m …Zegras 5.75m ….If the point is winning a cup not sure Zegras is gonna move the needle and address checking center /physical center gap …unless he’s replacing the Deejay
Trevor Zidewinder the kind of player we regret having more of much sooner than later.
@usedtobe: I think it would be ironic if NYR, who we think would like to be bigger, tougher, heavier to play against, would trade a big, tough, hard to play against guy (Cuylle) for a guy that is available because his team wants to get bigger, tougher, heavier to play against and he doesn’t fit that description.
why does bobby compare chytil’s salary to zegras salary
yet does not compare chytil’s to brod, carrack or edstrom salary. or even the 3 of them combined
hmm? inquiring minds want to know
Becuase Beezle and I were comparing Chytil vs Zegras Alex ..try and keep up
didnโt say it would be easy, BW. You always gamble on greatness. Zegras has a chance to great. His skill level is that high.
Zegras has two 60 point seasons to his name. Did it on a bad team, with bad players. Be curious to see what he could do on a good team, with good players.
BTW, if Chytil had a 60 point season, Chytil fans would be planning the parade at The Canyon Of Heroes to celebrate that accomplishment.
can’t do 2 things at once bobby?
and what do you think of the comparison i made re chytil vs the other 3 salaries
If you think Brodz/Carrack/Edstrom is a 3c solution or Chytil upgrade ..you would be wrong regardless of what their salary is
Used to Be ….does his chance to be great get them a Cup …or more goals and maybe some more semi-final appearances?
I donโt know bobby, but I think itโs worth finding out.
i know i’m right on chytil not being a good 3c. we’ve had other needs that could have been addressed the last 3 years using chytil’s money.
never a solution
no 1 solution bobby. but getting rid of chytil would be a great start. and going forward we’ve really mortgaged the future with all the draft picks we’ve given up
Honestly we have no idea what Drury is going to do. The problem is, neither does Drury.
buyout doesnt get draft picks Or a 3c
Alex
What future?
Take a guess what position Zebras plays when he’s not playing center…..
Goalie?
Sidewinger?
Nope. Missionary.
Rangers should’ve signed Jalen Brunson, to show the other guys how to take less money in order to benefit the team around them.
Maybe Igor will take note..but I doubt it and Drury will sign his 3rd anchor contract to join Meeka and Lame Fox.
The desire and determination to go to the tough areas, and win one on one battles in the playoffs must outweigh the ability to do so. This is the #1 requirement for a team/player to go the distance and raise the trophy! It is why I believe the curtain falls on this clown show year after year. The coach that can instill this in his team/players will lead the parade down the canyon of heros. The Minx has Spoken!
The player’s desire to go to the corners is baked in; not for the coach to motivate. Need to bring in the right mindset, not very likely for someone who has been playing one way for 20+ years and being paid millions of dollars as a result to change their approach so they can golf 2-4 less weeks in the summer.
SN
If it’s baked in what’s the purpose of coaching? I never suggested they lack the ability, just the desire to do it at all costs. If you want something bad enough you will do ir. Too many on this roster obviously lack what it takes. Of course that’s just my opinion. Something has to change or it’s rinse/repeat.
Pretty good value for Schneider.
Schneider is in at $2.2 per for 2 years.
I really think they should trade Lindgren. He has the heart of a Lion, but he just bounces off of people when he hits and is far too often getting hit in his own end. Love the guy, but they need bigger size on the backend.
love lindgren but I agree with Craig Weather
though, would need top 4 replacement and I donโt know who is available there
St Pete – hope you are feeling better. My take is a guy like Tro is the type of player to acquire because the desire and willingness is there. We also saw how everyone played bigger with Rempe in the lineup; that is no accident.
So if they want to increase the team toughness Dreary needs to begin sacrificing some skill for will knowing the result in the long run will be a tougher team in the POs. They have too many US College/USNTDP and Euro players who haven’t learned the ropes in Canadien Juniors and fought through the battles required for success in that league. Doesn’t mean all these player do not possess toughness, but there is a theme here.
US: Kreider, Fox, Tro, Trouba, Miller, Lindgren, Jones, VC, Chad
EU: Bread, Meeka, Chytil, Kakko, Edstrom
CA: Schneider, Laffy, Rempe, Reilly Smith, Coolio, Othmann

Thanks doing better my wife and I on our 3rd bought with covid. We are Veterans lol!
I’m not posting this to be political. This is just funny af.
some poor guy got killed though
Yeah. I blocked that guy on X. Not that I care politically but that is in bad taste. Imagine the Strome family seeing his name trending because of asshats like this guy. And it was trending.
https://heavy.com/sports/nhl/toronto-maple-leafs/trade-proposal-jacob-trouba-mitch-marner/
Have at it.
Would do that if they can fit–one less year of Trouba contract ..and Marner more moveable at deadline
Nothing to see here. Drury is on vacation. He’ll fire up the oven when he gets back.
we just got Marner. Why are we trading him at the deadline?
We need a Chytil replacement !
Shouldn’t put much (Any) stock in the summer trade rumors but it’s comforting to see for NYR that chytil is involved in most of them – for weegar/andersson, for Zegras/Vatrano, etc.
its only comforting if they get a cost controlled checking center back
Robertson one year deal
Chytil is an expensive non-playing non-center one hit away from a career change. Addition by subtraction at this point. They managed without him fine.
New post?
It’s comforting what SN said
M Robertson extended a 1-year 2-way deal. End of line with the club for this once promising ranger pick?
Future Ryan Graves?
Eli – exactly what I thought, but at least Graves was in the AHL ASG the season they traded him (for a bag of pucks) and had the fastest recorded shot during the skills comp.
Robertson has not shown much but he may be the wrong nationality for the NYR backline. May need change to US citizenship to get a regular turn.
Wennberg is gone
bobbyo
And should be gone.
he wasn’t bad defensively …another forward that didnt want to shoot…and overpaid
