Rangers 1, Pens zilch

Published by

on

The win/point streak begins again!

The Rangers secured a narrow 1-0 victory over the Penguins in a pre-turkey defensive showcase. Quick was impenetrable, stopping all 32 shots he faced from the Pens – marking his 60th career shutout, but only his first against Pittsburgh. The lone goal of the night came from Lafreniere, who found the net early in the first period. Jarry made 35 saves for the Pens, matching Quick’s performance but for the one goal given up.

The game was not without controversy, as both teams had complaints about what passes for “fine” officiating in the NHL. Pittsburgh believed they had tied the game up during a power play in the first period when Hinostroza beat a gloveless Quick, but the goal was disallowed after a successful offside challenge by the Rangers. Of many questionable calls, the Rangers were upset over a 3rd period hooking call on Goodrow that looked to be an airborne dive by one time Ranger Ryan Graves.

Notes:

2nd game in a row with no points for Panarin
Quick is now 6-4-5 against the Penguins
Rangers had 25 blocks, 5 from Trouba and 4 from Bonino

Great bounceback game and nice to see us win a tight one on the road like that. Is it too early to ask “Is there a goalie controversy in NY?” (ducks!). Happy Thanksgiving all.

Perhaps the most important part of this win is they won a very defensive game after a horrible effort two days before. So not only no losing streak, but a return to structure and effort necessary to be successful in NHL.

I think keeping Wheeler on the our underperformed, so called 1st line is a travesty, borderline with crime. Sniper he is not, skating rather slow, lack of former physicality in his big body, so – no policing and punishing functions here either, as well as much of noticeable spirit and desire. If nothing else he is a crew’s brake in this line. I would like to bring back Kakko until and if they could get a bona fide RW. Until it happens, our 1st line is undoubtedly Panarin’s.

Kreider laying letang out was one of my favorite moments of the year

Letang likes to go after guys dirty with cheap shots from behind.

Tried to get vesey way after the play shortly after the Kreider hit too. Lunged for the back of his sweater.

Finns can be a lot of fun once they are comfortable around you. Kind of like squirrels in the park, takes a while before they accept you.

My dad is Finnish (and Swedish)

For a gift my parents got us two coffee cups

One says “you can always tell a Finn, but you can’t tell them much”

The other “living with a Finn builds character “

Anyone know the story of Penguins tanking for Lemieux, and does anyone know the story of how Penguins landed up with draft pick for Crosby? Was that an inside job within the NHL to reward Mario for his purchase of the Pens?

    Admiral
Could that be just of the reason why “I hate the pens?”
