Good morning, Boneheads!
I got a lot of catching up to do, so be patient with me. I don’t follow the draft and the youngsters as much as some of you do. In fact, most of my knowledge about draftees comes from the blog, thanks to many of you (hi, BDL). But from what I read yesterday, that Yanic’s kid was the right choice in their situation. He was the best available player left, and he happened to play their position of organizational weakness. I don’t know what’s the fuss about. Skating? You don’t score 132 points in 63 games walking on the ice in Uggs.
As far as the start of free agency in 30 min. We all know the drill. They don’t have enough cap space to sign their own FA and fill the rest of the spots, let alone sign some expensive UFA. I don’t expect anything earth shattering. But let’s give Drury a little credit. He did very well getting both Tarasenko and Kane under the cap when anyone said he couldn’t do one of them, let alone both. While I don’t think there will be a big fish coming to Broadway, there are some moves to make in order to fill all the necessary spots adequately. Just remember, there is no reason to panic and make all the moves right away. They don’t have to be cap compliant during offseason. As long as they under $91.85M ($83.5M+10%) of total AAV, they are good to go until after the training camp. Also, there could be some real short term solutions/bargains on that buy out market.
Have fun!

Eli,
😂, we actually agree quite a bit, we just come at it differently.
Bdl
🤣
Hughes at 35% at faceoffs his whole career, better get him off Devils first line!
Kreider or Goodrow on his wing would help make up for that deficiency, which really isn’t all that imprt except in select moments when still essentially 50-50 for most centers who are considered good at it
When Chytil scores at a rate comparable to Hughes then we can look the other way like NJD are. Hughes had more goals in 49 games in 2021/22 (26) than than Chytil has had in any season yet.
Hughes is a dynamic talent, the devils got lucky, or they’d be sending Kakko to skating lessons. Chytil has a wonderful singing voice lol!
no doubt about that, but just think the faceoff stat is overblown in many cases and generally not hard to pull someone off or not start them in the d zone if it’s a big moment
Damn, nearly every time I pick up Rangers Report 2.0, someone is talking about the Derbils and specifically Jack Hughes.
Dude is living in sone people’s heads rent free. Enough already.
Not I Akbar, kid is a talent but so slight that just one big hit away from being far less effective!
And I for one at least am still not in awe of their lineup
Fun game for you, boys.
Let’s see how many you can get right.

Tarasenko to Carolina. Ouch…
Pete
I kinda like your lines except I’d tweak it and go
Laf Mika Kaako
Panerin Chytil Wheeler
Kreider Trocheck Goody
Vesey Bonino Pitlik/Cuylle
Fun fact exercise anyways
I did watch the entire Laviolette presser and he did make not of kids being able to earn opportunities on PP etc
Also. When we face islander/caps/bruins or any teams that are “heavy” I’m playing harpur over Jones/Gustaff
He was a good soldier and quite effective defensively last season along with a decent first pass.
I was afraid Tarasenko could end up in some team of our division and here we are…Damn. With Svechnikov back and adding Taras, Canes will have probably the best fire squad in Metro.
C3po 9:10 pm 👍
Cool idea
My guess is Tarasenko’s deal is another one year deal. Carolina has less than $4.5 mil left on their cap.
I don’t know what happens when Svechnikov goes back on the roster either. He’s currently still listed on injured reserve.
