Has anyone noticed how many players get injured from borderline hits when playing against the Isles. Seems like an inordinate number to me and in most cases it seems to be a top 6 player or top 4 dman, not the 4th line scrub. I guess that’s one way for them to level the playing field and makeup for their own lack of talent. I hate the Isles more than St. Pete hates the Pens.

As for St Pete’s Pens, has anyone noticed that they have been featured on the last 4 Saturday games of the week and a couple of the Wednesday games. In Bettman’s NHL, it’s always been about Sid and still is, even with McDavid, McKinnon and others. Will Bettman start an investigation or change the playoff qualifications if both Sidney and Ovi are on the outside the playoff line this year. Ovi is already out and Sid will probably be out as well. Bettman may have a stroke.

My vote is for John Ferguson as worst GM of all time, with Sather a close second. Clarke does get special consideration for many years of terrible drafting.

Interesting that Fox got a $5ooo fine for spearing Perry. Did not notice it and no mention of it during game. Anybody remember seeing Fox spear or slash? Thanks for video if you can find it.
Also agree about Ferguson. Not only a horrible Ranger but not a very nice guy when he played.
I remember him attacking Bobby Hull in a playoff game when Hull had a full face mask like a football player to protect a broken jaw. Fergy got into a rumble with him ripped of his helmet and beat the crap out of Hull. Could never understand why no Blackhawk jumped in to help.
Fergy was a real class guy.

Has a family history with the Rangers. Played in the league.
He was a part of the Miracle on Ice team and of course hired Herb Brooks to coach the Rangers. Kind of got mixed results with Brooks, but had to battle the Islanders dynasty and the 86 Cup winning Habs,(w/rookie Patrick Roy). Went on to win two cups with the Pens. Ugh.
Still, Patrick deserves some credit for the role he played in building the 94 Rangers team.

Not a knock on Strome. I think most would agree that his numbers would be higher if he were still here, playing with Panerin. Still, this was a smart move by Drury.
Trocheck was signed to replace Strome this offseason
Trocheck has 21G/41A/62P, with 180 hits, 53 takeaways, 706 FOW, and a 56.6 FOW%
Strome has 14G/22A/36P, with 28 hits, 29 takeaways, 389 FOW and a 43.7 FOW%
I hope we will be able to sign Tarasanko to a contract and keep Mott next year. Kane can go wherever he wants as long as it is not NY.

I know a lot of guys have some negative feelings about Sather but under his administration the Rangers had a finals appearance and two other trips to the third round. Not exactly terrible results and if the officiating in the finals in 2014 was competent the Rangers may have won.
So with Sather you have to weigh the good with the bad.

Othmann will like spend a year in Hartford he’s a LW, no room. Cuylle could replace Goodrow who may be moved over the summer. I doubt they trade Lindgren, but anything is possible. I would not mind them keeping Tarasenko for as long as Panarin is here. He would have to take a major discount, which is unlikely. They still need a 4C. It will be next to impossible to win the cup this year, getting past the devils, maybe the fishsticks, the Bruins? Tough ask.

There’s only 4 teams with more points than the Rangers. Columbus is in the thick of the Connor Bedard sweepstakes and they have a lot of injuries.
Rangers will be trying to get Kane going. I guess the 2007 draft was at Nationwide Arena in Columbus and Kane said he always loves playing there. This could be a lopsided game in favor of the Rangers. Shestyerkin was the first goalie off the ice this morning so looks like he’s starting.

I think it may be a good plan to try and keep Tarasenko. The guys a gamer, let’s see what he does for us in playoffs. Obviously it won’t be easy.
