13 unanswered goals over the weekend? They look like unstoppable, well oiled offensive machine. Did a great job to protect Halak’s SO, and also not to score more goals. No reason to embarrass an otherwise good team that is decimated by injuries and filled with young, aspiring AHL players.
This isn’t what they need to practice though. They still give up too many scoring opportunities and rely on their goalkeepers too much. Will be a different game tomorrow, and totally different hockey in April, as we all know.
My family is enjoying great time with Wicky’s. And skiing. Great conditions on the slopes yesterday. I usually let my little one go down the slopes first and then catch up with her. It was a bit more difficult yesterday, she’s getting much better. Anyway, one time I was ahead of her and she caught up with me. She turned around and said:”Drop your purse, honey, it’s gonna be a bumpy ride.” Yup. Not too long ago she asked me why our pregame posts are called It’s Go Time, so I showed her a couple of Seinfeld episodes with Izzy Mandelbaum. Didn’t know I’d regret it.
Back to skiing today.

Although against a less talented team because of injuries, etc., this one was more complete than Saturdays win.

If the Islanders were winning like this, their fan base would come out in droves. Islanders jerseys everywhere. Islanders blogs would crash due to the sudden heavy traffic…. Everyone talking how great Matt Barzal is, etc…

Something that may be overlooked about last night’s game. Halak was exceptional and was the only difference early on before the goal flood gates opened.
Rangers are so good that the 3rd /4th lines play more as the game goes on
All the goals yesterday were nice;but in the playoffs sloppy defense will be any teams undoing. Have got to clean up d zone coverage and someone has to tell Fox to stop making stupid passes all over the place.
I really wonder if he is playing injured. This is not the Fox we have seen over the last couple of years. Also you can not blame it on Lingren being out. As I have said before he has look off since the all star game.
Maybe after the season they will tell us that he has been injured all season and we are all supposed to cheer his warrior mentality;even if it is detrimental to the team.
There’s no need to post. We don’t have anything to complain about until tomorrow at the earliest. Tomorrow is a good test. Will Lindgren be back in? How will they handle the Cane foreheck that has bothered them in the past?
not worried about Fox especially when Lindy gets back but some of the sloppiness is on the forwards ….. not picking up coverage in front or backchecking or turning over in neutral zone to start odd man rush …but they have been getting better there too

but all the faceoffs were at center ice after scoring!

Man, Halak was solid. I think against that team though, if we went down 2-0 in the first, we would still come back to win. The Rangers are so deadly and fast when everything is clicking. It makes for real boring games and watching just to see no one getting injured.
I think we split the next two games against Carolina.
Is it possible that the dirty birds could actually miss the playoffs? Oh glory days if it happens. I hate the pens!

As much as I don’t like Crosby and the Pens, I will always root for them over the Fish sticks. It would be perfect for fish sticks to come in 13th from the bottom, they don’t make the playoffs and they lose their first round pick in the deepest draft in years. For that reason, I will root for the Pens to turn things around. I also think the Rangers would match up better against the Pens in the playoffs, should they meet.
I’d root for Pens over Fishsticks anyday.
I like the idea of the pens finishing at 15 0r 16 with no chance at Bedard. At 15 they have a .8% chance at #5. But I understand wanting the sardines to miss the playoffs as well. I hate them both. But with the pens, it’s personal.
Wouldn’t it be SO much more satisfying for the Rangers to go through the Isles at some point in the playoffs? Think about it- Their trash fanbase would have ugatz to say afterward, at least nothing they can say with any validity. If our team is THAT good, there’s no reason why they can’t b****slap the fish tanks in the post-season.
Hard to root for the Isles even if they are knocking the Pens out. On the plus side one of them probably is not getting in and will have the worse possible draft spot for a non playoff team.
I don’t have a feeling either way regarding the islanders but allot of there fan base are A-holes.
Either are losing to Boston so 🤷🏻♂️
From a hockey standpoint probably makes sense to avoid a top 5 goalie /Sorokin and a trapping defensive team

Exactly. Rangers match up terribly with teams who trap and have good goalies.

Actually Bedard going to the Sardines would be a catastrophe. It would be comical if Bedard went to the Pens, actually.

I agree, do not want to play a top goalie and trapping team. Rangers do not match up with that and every game is a game 7 for the fish sticks when they play the Rangers. It’s also much more enjoyable knowing Isles could have had a high draft pick in a deep draft, but it is going to Canucks instead. That creates more misery for them going forward, since they already have a weak prospect pool.
It may be good for fish sticks to play Boston. It may just be me, but it seems that Isles opponents seem to have a high rate of injuries, so Boston’s top players may be beat up after playing fish sticks.
