Good morning, boneheads!
Not so fast, NJ!
I’m glad my time is limited, otherwise I’d probably go on and on about how they are definitely turning the corner, and how Shesterkin is getting his game back, and how the kids are slowly becoming main players, etc…But I think I’d wait a bit until they show they can play better for longer stretches.
Just a couple of things. Look who answered the bell last night after NJ’s youngsters almost ran with it. All of our first round busts. Also, Panarin walks the walk.

Going to share my thoughts on Kravtsov. Let me start by saying, I would be playing him. Even if it’s just for 8 minutes a night on the 4th line. Having said that, the latest guy fans want to waive so Kravtsov plays is Blais. They have already lost Hunt and Reeves, who brought a physical element to the game that they miss. Waive Blais, and that’s yet another guy lost who brings that style of play. Just can keep doing that. The team has already lost quite a bit of its identity from last year.
They are hurting the player by not playing him, but as far as the team, and the on ice product, I don’t think Kravtsov sitting is that big a deal. Even with those guys gone, Kravtsov still can’t crack the lineup. What going to happen to him next year when Othmann, and Cuylle are here?
We all knew going into this season that the team would only be as good as how the Lafreniere, Kakko, Chytil develop. This little winning streak is showing how important they are now.
No more sheltered minutes for the ‘kids’!
Not breaking any news with this, but the Rangers needs are obvious. They need RW, and a solid veteran LD. In addition they need a 4th line center. Unless Goodrow is that guy.
Most satisfying V of the season, by far.
BDL, I agree re Kravtsov. GG has shown a willingness to not let guys sit for long, so I expect he’ll crack the lineup soon unless there’s some practice work ethic behind the scenes thing.
That said, they’re winning without him in the lineup. Not a direct correlation of course, but no need to make drastic changes.
Despite the same few glaring misplays on D, Miller’s game seems refreshed, offensively, at least. Seems to be gaining some confidence. We’ll see.
Very odd Krapsoft situation. My guess is that he won’t listen.
Think Brodz has been just fine as 4th line C, Blais had some good hits last night but still looks a bit slow .
Someone hacked coos’s account 🙂
Troubs has to stop with the turnovers. Looks like GG curbed his ice time a bit and gave more minutes with Miller pairing with Schneider
Trouba suffering the curse of the Ranger captain. Mess has put a hex on every one since him except Jagr.
I thought they picked up their pace and physical play after the lousy start. LAF, KK, KAM and FC have to contribute big time if they are going to be any good. They did that last night.
BobbyO,
There is no way the Rangers go in to the playoffs with Brodzinski as the 4th line center. He’s fine for now.
TGO commercial A1.
Miller STILL, after every goal against, six feet from any opponent. Take a man, for Chrysler’s sake!
With cap space 4th line C is gonna take backseat to RW or LD
Then it will be Goodrow. It won’t be Brodzinski.
Agree with most on Goodrow – he’s your 4C, need more skill from a 1/2RW, i’m guessing the hope with the cap situation is that Kravy gets it, but he’s not shown a lot in the glimpses we’ve seen so far.
Good to see the kids are alright though: Miller, Fil, Kakko, Shneids and Laf seem to have taken the bigger responsibility and run with it
So who is in the running for the SAMcD Extra Effort Award this year so far…. tough choice…
Kravstov of course
lindgren will probably get that award
I would like to see Kravtsov replace Goodrow and Goodrow replace Brodzinski. They have to see what, if anything Kravtsov can contribute before getting rid of him.
Extra eff it reward.
Flip actually on pace for 52 points for 82 games. Best case for the cap this year is he develops into the 2C and VT slot in at 3C.
Like Chytil but if Drury is thinking about Horvat, he will be probably be part of that package.
No appreciation for the Gretzky commercial?
Horn and Horvat.
At least our boys show up! Where YOU be at?
Here I am here!
Good morning, boneheads!
So both the Devils and Fishsticks lost last night. The Metro Division battle is just starting.
Forgot to mention yesterday. How long until this mini-Trouba becomes real Schneider? I think he is moving in the right direction, and fast. And no, I’m not talking about his goals. It’s his hits and ability to move pucks out. His positioning is still sometimes far from great, but that comes with mileage.
Definitely moving in right direction…thats why the Captain may be moved out after season before full no trade kicks in…. cant pay 8M if Trouba slots to 3rd pair
Trouba has a NMC. I think through 24/25.
Thought limited no trade that changes to no move this summer
NMC this year and next year. Modified NMC for the following two years, (which are the last two years) of his deal.

The easier fix might be to trade for a left handed defensive defenseman who compliments Trouba’s game.
When does the season start? I’m bored….
We could have had Verlander for $45 million per.
what type of LH dman do you have in mind and how much will he cost?
A young Lindberg type for about $750 grand.
With that lean and hungry look. (Julius Caesar, Act 1, Scene 2.)
thought he would need someone that could handle/move the puck more
I’ve mentioned Edmundson and Gavrikov. A veteran presence who can clear the crease, but not get beat on a rush. Someone you can trust on the PK and to put out there to protect a lead. A left handed version of Braun might be fine. Let Trouba focus a little more on offense and throwing some big hits.
If they get LD it will be someone cheaper But why can’t the guy getting paid 8m focus on that more help?
Bobby-he’s obviously struggling. His contract was called one of the worst in the league. Then he found his game. Now, he’s been hurt and struggling and every fan and beat writer who hates Trouba is piling on. He’s the captain of this team for a reason. Even if be doesn’t play out the length of his contract here, he’s not going anywhere this year or next. Might as well try to help him find his game again .
As much as the Rangers need a Vet LD the priority right now should be a RW for the Bread line, or the Mika line.
Bread Chytil Kakko or ?
Laffo-Busto Mika Kakko or ?
Kreider Trocheck Vesey
Blais Goodrow Gauthier
Wrote my 6:53 quickly at my son’s h.s. game. Didn’t mean to say Ranger beat writers are piling on Trouba. They’re just acknowledging that he’s struggling.
Thought the Devils already won the Cup in November.
Reaves with two huge hits tonight for the Wild.
Anyone remember anything similar when he played for us?
I don’t recall seeing this for us from Reeves.
Coach: ‘You’re here to prevent mayhem…’
‘You’re here to create mayhem…’
All in the way you’re directed as they hand you the check.
Like Troubs but he’s been struggling but with his cap hit and defensive depth on right side they have to consider moving him starting this summer
Reaves had some really good shifts and some big hits for us. I liked having him on the team, but so many times he did nothing useful. He looked slow so many games. There were games where the other team was throwing a lot of big hits or being dirty and there was no response from him except maybe some yapping. He won’t play in the playoffs and will probably retire after this season.
Rangers have always insisted on ‘enforcers’ who are disciplined and do what they’re told.
It would be nice to see our boys play 60 minutes of good hockey tonight. I am not asking for a lot. Just play each period and each shift like it means something;and Truba and Miller not making boneheaded plays in their own zone.
Am I asking for too much?
Going to the game tonight with my wife and another couple. Should be fun 🙂
‘So won’t you smile for the camera?
I know they’re gonna love it…’
Interesting.
