Funny regular season didn’t matter before the Pens series, but now it matters.
It’s not just this season. They haven’t competed against the Canes since before the bubble. This is the toughest matchup they can have. I am hoping for a competitive series and not another embarrassment like the debacle in the bubble.
Game six vs pens I noticed Kreider fist bumped and interacted with every ranger coming off the ice except Georgie. Gave him the cold shoulder.
TonyD better text Chris to watch his back. He may be sent away if Georgie hits him
I’m curious to see which matchup Rod the Bod chooses. Does he go Aho against Zibanejad,? or does he put his checking line on them, the Staal line. Trochek is going to get the kid line, and feast on Chytil. I do not want Zibanejad in a matchup role. Crosby ate his lunch most of the series. I think Aho will too. I’m hoping it’s Staal.
Props to Crosby last series but honestly thought Guentzle was their best player
if I’m being totally objective, I do not expect them to win this series unless Igor reverts to regular season form. I don’t think it will be 4-5 games.
That being said, I’ve seen enough of this team that I will not give up hope until the clock is 0:00 in that fourth loss.

I think it’s obvious that just like the pens the Canes have the advantage down the middle. But the dirty birds are looking forward to tee times so anything is possible!
BDL – believe it will be Mika’s line with tuba/Miller against Ahole and 37. Staal will match up against Bread.
One thing GG did in last game is mix up the lines a bit in 2nd and 3rd, moving Motte up to 1st line and Mika around as well.
The answer could be moving Stromeo or Copp to 3C and moving Kakko to 2RW imho and Chytil to 3RW for more balance in the middle.
BDL, I think Mika goes against Aho and Staal against Strome. The latter is where NY can have some advantage, especially if Panarin heats up. I’m curious to see how the Kid line does this series as well. Can they build on what they did against Pittsburgh or does GG have to break them up with a D oriented forward? Or wait for Goodrow. I think Slavin/DeAngelo vs Pesce/Skjei match up is very important as well.

IIRC, all three of DeAngelo, Skjei and Smith stink at defense. That’s 50% of their D. Should be an easy series 🙂

So funny thing: I looked it up and its literally cheaper for me to get flights to Carolina for me and the wife, 2 nights in a hotel and 2 tickets to game 1 than to get 2 tickets to game 3 at MSG.
In total, flights + hotel + 2 tickets at center ice 4 rows from the glass costs as much as a single ticket, 12 rows from the ice at center ice at msg.

Similar seats in Raleigh Section 119 Row E, with Hotel for 2 nights and flights were $1377
I think the common sense play for them going into the series is run the standard 4-4-2 but I’d really be tempted to pressure their D more with a 4-3-1-2 alignment.
