The day started with some pretty bad news. Igor Shesterkin and Pavel Buchnevich got into car accident while driving in Brooklyn at around 8:30 pm on Sunday. Luckily, both are relatively OK. Buchnevich was “shaken up” ( the arriving paramedics got a good lesson in advanced Russian foul language ), but sustained no injuries. Shesterkin sustained a non-displaced rib fracture and will be re-evaluated in two weeks. It’s unfortunate, because he was on his way to breaking every single goaltending rookie record, and possibly on his way to propelling NY to an unexpected playoff appearance this year. The good news, there is nothing long term. It remains to be seen if this changes anything in terms of how this team has been playing lately.
The rest of the day was positive all the way. Kudos to JD and Gorton. Because what they did was about both the present and the future. The first move was a sign given to the team, and the fans, that this re-stew is over. They “acquired” the best available player ( by a margin) at the deadline. He would also, arguably, be the second best available forward in July.
Make no mistake, it’s a hometown discount. Kreider would get 7 years in July, and without a doubt, he would get what Hayes got, at the very least. I’d argue that if he had a good playoffs run elsewhere, the money would be much, much higher. Both he and the team made sure this works. Both got what they wanted.. Kreider wanted a term, NY wanted the money. That’s how you make it work. The Rangers go on now, and long term, with formidable top 6.
The second move was more about the future. The future of salary cap management, that is. I admit, I’m very impressed with the Skjei trade. Gorton used their depth on defense, left side especially, to clear $5.25M of cap space for the next 4+ years. Brady Skjei is a serviceable 2nd pair D-men, but he would start falling behind on their depth in the next couple of years, if not next year. Lindgren is already above him, and they have more kids available to step in. K’Andre Miller is expected to fight for the spot next season, Hajek was getting there before he got injured. And they have more in their system. I believe it does weaken their left side short term, but this was more about the future. That Gorton got a first round pick in return AND was able to clear up his salary in the process is very impressive. The pick is Carolina’s first rounder. If Carolina has two first round picks, the Rangers get the lower one. After all the confusion, I’m pretty sure that’s how it was worded while presented to the league. If some CBA junkies want me to explain this, I’ll do it during this thread.
I went back and looked at my Sign EVERYONE exercise. They needed to clear $7,365,633 to re-create their current roster. Between Kreider and Skjei this number went down to 1,615,633. This makes Gordon’s job much easier this summer. And much more likely that he can make some changes to improve this roster.
I’ll update this post when Carp comes up with his own evaluation. And if any other details emerge.
Click here to read Carp’s new article.
UPDATE: Click here to see the official breakdown of Kreider’s contract. Briefly, it’s a front loaded contract, he gets $25.5M of its total value of $45.5M during the first three years, mostly in bonuses. He also has a full NMC through 2023-24 season. After that, until the end of this contract, he gets an NMC ( can’t be buried in AHL ) and modified NTC with 15 teams on his no-trade list.

Today’s moves were exactly what I had hoped for. Good job by Gorton. Shame Igor had to get hurt. Even if we don’t make the playoff’s we are a better team today and in the near future. beginning of the year we looked like like a first class dumpster fire. Now we are starting to look like a team. I’m in such a great mood I won’t even as for Linndy Ruff’s head.
Onward to long island.
LETS GO RANGERS
My sources tell me the 6.5 has nothing to do with a hometown discount. $4.625 is for The’s 82 nights of skating and shooting and things, and the remaining $1.875 covers weekly driving lessons for Shesterkin, who couldn’t understand his previous teacher. Excellent asset management.
I think Gorton and crew deserve high praise for today. I felt even better watching the press conference with Gorton and JD as they seem to be on the same page and meshing well , though it obvious that JD the boss.
Merzlikins banged up. Hopefully CBJ lose this game.
Kreider got his 7 years.
Gorton got his Preffered annual cap hit.
Kreider got his total $$ value over $45M
Rangers get to hold onto one of the best LW’s the team has ever drafted.
Night boys!
Be interesting to see how the current LD are being slotted in the lineup and the prospects on the farm. This also may mean Staal is here for yet another season, but Smith should be an Asst to the Asst coach in Hartford next season.
Skjej played well enough lately to make this trade a possibility.
Though, speaking of inconsistencies that people harper on all season with the trade Kreider camp, Skjej was the most inconsistent D. He plateaued into what was an overpayment that was difficult to predict. If he were 3 mil AAV we definitely keep him. But the cap space this move provides is worth its weight. To add a 1st rounder is a yuge Cherry 🍒 on top
Maybe smith shows he’s still got game in this opportunity. Then maybe we can find a trade partner to split his salary in his final year.
I am so bummed The czars record breaking pace is being disrupted. I really hope he comes back without rust and can continue his streak
Hope hank in meantime can add to his win and shutout totals for a big run to go out in a blaze of glory carrying the team to the playoffs
Also, Georgie can prove his value further and get experience in pressure games with playoff implications.
The three goalie monster is now paying dividends. Wow ! 😳
Ps.
I love JD
He’s like the grandpa I never had. Puts me instantly at ease any time he speaks.
Fun sharing your skepticism last night, Cregg. I was not as sure as E3 (though he sees dead people, huge advantage) but it was interesting trying to figure who was planting info on Brooks and for what reason.
Checking in on the Jackets OT. 3-on-3 is deadly dull when both teams are trying not to lose.
And as I finish typing the OT suddenly opens up. Jacks win, though, dammit.
Ottowah continues their streak of pissing me off
Let columbus get 2 pts
Let me guess. Chris Neils ghost got the Gwg
Picture it now boneheads. Think it into existence.
It’s the draft lottery. They start at 15 and work their way down.
(Toronto and Carolina both still haven’t been called)
Pick eleven goes to ….. (not toronto)
Which means both Toronto is keeping their pick and Carolinas (ours) pick is in the top 10 as well.
That’s what we are all hoping for boys
And I hope skjei enjoys himself in Carolina. That’s a nice laidback market for him, and the fans are really supportive of the players. Out of the pressure cooker and into a more laidback environment
After all of those games we’ve won, we’re STILL 6 games out. I don’t know… Playoffs sure seem like a tall order at this point.
Gorton did yeoman work today. Jis best trade….the one he didn’t make…CK 20 stays for reasonable rate. Shea….(can’t spell his name) for #1. That’s just beautiful work right there. Huge cap hit…gone…hello #1 and with this draft chances are good….if they don’t draft someone residing in the Gobi desert….they will get an impact hockey player…..Today was a good day.
Speedy recovery to Igor
Craig. Isn’t it 6 pts out?
3 games worth with games against some that we are chasing which turn into 4 pt games
Without Igor, the order is a little taller, but I think they’re up to it.
I think the Kreider reversion is certainly possible. Not that an average of 22 ish goals a season is bad, it’s also why I wouldn’t have overpaid for him and figured 6.5 per was about right. Glad Gorton took my advice 😜because I’m happy Kreider is still here.
As far as SkjeL, decent 2nd pair nhler imo, good return on him and more importantly cap space from an organizational position with depth.
cbj won in ot 🙁
Booooooo
Wonder if Trouba is undergoing counseling now that his main bro got traded away. Also wonder if his game will, improve with a more reliable partner.
Athletic giving Carolina an A and the Rangers a B (overall trades). We’ll see if Skjei turns into the addition by subtraction so many were crowing about. On paper (and on the wild streets of Brooklyn) the Rangers got worse in the short term today, but glad they didn’t get sucked into the win-now trap and continue with the patient build. And they could still get lucky this season.
Remember when Hayes, Vesey, and Skjei were sharing a big, fancy Manhattan apartment? Hope for their sake it was month to month.
Trouba standing tomorrow arms akimbo in front of his cubicle: “Hey! I had a family size bag of Sour Cream and Onion back there.”
Good morning, boneheads!
Post above updated for Carp’s new article.
Still waiting for CapFriendly to update Kreider’s contract.
Chooo-chooooo
(Everyone aboard)
Hop on the train, it’s safer than driving your own car. Conductor Chris and the engine Zibane will lead us though. Fresh bread will be served daily by the Pa-na-Rin.
But beware of the kids, they are nothing short of a bunch pains in the butt, 💩-stirrers, fighters, kickers (no not really), Goalnet sniffers, rodeo-riders, and back of the net finders.
(Not for faint of heart, but one braalic ride nonetheless)
Next stop Uniondale and a date with the Islanders of Long Island
I just realized that the car accident happened literally a block away from where I live! Were they coming to see me? I’ll never know now.
Previet!
Zdarova!
Ok, that’s a strong statement from Larry Brooks. And, of course, another reason for this site to initiate the lawsuit against him for plagiarism 🙂
https://nypost.com/2020/02/24/rangers-are-finally-back-after-wild-nhl-trade-deadline/
I’m thinking Rangers beat Isles.
Carolina, Columbus and Florida lose tonight.
Yeah baby!
Cregg,
That’s what I meant. Typo. If they were 12 points out, we wouldn’t even be talking about it lol.
great long term move by Gorton on Skjej trade…no one here thought a 1st was possible. Frees up cap space and room for young Dmen on the way while they can still compete for playoff spot this year. Good luck to Brady he was a good Ranger and played much better last several months. He will do well in Carolina probably not playing top pair minutes and everyone can again blame Ruff
Norm, you have a long time before the results are tabulated on the Skjeil deal.
Why was Igor driving Buchnevich’ Porsche?
Because Igor can’t afford his own yet?
My sources ( eric 5th in Metro ) tell me Kreider’s contract is front loaded with heavy bonuses for the first 3 years (totaling $25.5M ), with NMC through 2023-24, and NTC ( probably modified ) thereafter. I’ll wait for CapFriendly to confirm
Smith with Trouba tonight? Keeps the other pairings the same.
BLD that’s funny, was thinking the same while walking the dog. I can call you crazy instead 😉 But that pair does bring a bit of jam
The one curious thing for me yesterday was Fast. Didn’t sign him. Didn’t trade him. You have to think there were multiple teams asking about him. Contenders love players like him. I suspect they are going to sign him in the summer.
Beezle,
The other option is to put Staal there. I don’t think at this point you want to mess with the top pair of Lindgren, and Fox.
Same thinking BDL and Smith is a bit more mobile than Staal so… why not. Might even get lucky that Smith shows enough down the stretch to entice someone over the summer.
And how good has Ryan Lindgren been. could not have imagined him being as good as he’s been. Figured he’d add a little grit as the number 6 Dman. Never expected him to be this.
Bobby
at the risk of being called a “sore winner” again, I’ve been saying for weeks and weeks that Skjei isn’t only a likely cap casualty candidate but that he’d be worth more than most here give him credit for.
It was one of the more appropriate moves and they’ll be better for it fairly soon.
He’s probably a big reason they were okay with moving Skjei, BDL. They could use two more of him.
Some here this summer and fall hated lindgren saying he was and would always be marginal.
Glad he proved me right!!! 😉 gloat gloat. 😉
Did anyone else have the thought after hearing about Shesterkin, that they should have traded Kreider? I know I did for a brief moment, and my brother texted me that exact thought.
What are lines tonight? Kaako moves up to Buch spot.
Lemiuex ip to Kaako spot.
Mckegg centers 4th?
My guess with Fast is that they didn’t get much to consider trading him. A 3rd? Maybe 2nd? I think at the end of the day they decided to make Wicky’s life miserable and re-sign him later on. 🙂
BDL
Again, I think the notion developed among fans that Fast is going to get 3-4 million dollars on the open market is pretty insane. What it shows me is that they like him, he likes being a Ranger and they’re confident that they can retain him for a number that’s appropriate.
If I’m wrong, I default to my past posts about how he’s an important piece but certainly not irreplaceable.
Not losing any sleep over the situation. 9 first rounders in four years by the end of this upcoming draft.
ILB
You should have egged him on with a gentleman’s bet. “If Fast doesn’t get moved you have to wear my Fast T-shirt”
Cregg,
There was one former regular poster, who shall remain nameless, could not stand the thought of Lindgren being on the team.
Well Lindgren was going to be a liability running around taking head shots while the opposition scored on us if I remember right.
A second for Fast, I would have thought about, but I think keeping for the rest is perfectly fine.
BDL. No, not at all. They weren’t keeping him to make a run this year.
As a team we are very slightly worse than before the deadline, big BUT is that we have kept our core together and have the chance to improve drastically over the next year or two. The players we’ve drafted made Skjei expendable, they also made Kreider a necessity as we have little forward depth. I’d expect a lot more F’s selected by us in 2020 & 21 draft
The only worry I have about Lindgren is that Dolan will spend a lot of money on plastic surgeons and cosmetic dentists to maintain Lindgren’s daily look.
Don’t forget that Beleskey contract disappears this summer and Smith, Staal and Hank next summer, plus Girardi buyout drops by 2.5m next season
Lindgren is Sauer 2.0 – let’s hope he can stay healthy
Chris Kreider contract details:
20-21 $2M + $8M SB ($10M total),
21-22 $3.5M + $6M SB ($9.5M total),
22-23 $1M + $5M SB ($6M total),
23-24 $4M + $2M SB ($6M total),
24-25 $5M,
25-26 $4M,
26-27 $4M + $1M ($5M total)
No Move 20-21-22-23-24,
No trade 24-25-26-27
@renlavoie
Simon, I gather you’ve been using your Athletic subscription that you won the other day.
absolutely – needed to keep my 11 year old informed of his favourite 2 players (Hank & Kreids) !
I also managed to get WFAN on to listen to JD after 2 days stuck in the Canary Islands thanks to an apocalyptic sandstorm this was much needed cheer!!
guessing the ask for Fast was a 2nd rounder and no one was willing to pay…. other depth wingers Simmons, Cousins, thompson went for 4th or 5th rounders. Now they have cap space to resign him for top 6!
PB, we may get an early read on the Skjei business if they trade the pick, now that they are moving into Buyer mode. Sign Kreider = Win Now.
The lines should look like this:
Bread Strome Legend
The Dj Gauthier
Di Giuseppe Chytil Kakko
Lemieux McKegg Howden
can’t see anyone having offered a 2nd for fast (even a 3rd would have been rich for me as an opposing GM), but if they did he shouldn’t still be here. I’d be fine signing him to a 2yr deal over the summer, but basically at the same salary or minimal increase as unless we clear a lot more salary we can’t afford to allocate more cap space to him
You can bet there were offers on Fast but no market for him thanks to other deals for bottom 6 forwards only getting a 4/5/6/7 round pick – luckily teams needed defensemen (preferably with term) to play 2nd/3rd pair and that makes this summers cap squeeze an awful lot easier. If Smith can make a decent cameo we might even be able to flip him in the summer with some salary retention to make room for K’Andre, Rykov or Hajek (maybe even Robertson/Nils)
I wonder which one of Kakko, Gauthier, Di Giuseppe gets bumped up to replace Butch for a few games?
Minx, totally agree. Kakko should not be moved. He has shown some improvement of late but hasn’t really done enough to justify a move up. Think it is important to continue to develop what he has with Chytil.
I posted this yesterday re fast
If you look at what depth forwards went for yesterday (and fast is a depth forward on most teams), it was 4th and 5th round picks (goodrow thé exception). There is no reason for the rangers to move him for that.
You either give him a similar aav or a bit less (depending on other cap moves) or you let him walk, not the end of the world either way.
Great job by Gorton imo.
CCCP – other than to go out an party with you, what would those two be doing on Ocean and Z?
Tea leaves not necessary.
Don’t forget Howden showed good chemistry with Big Fil so wouldnt be a huge loss to move both up a line:
My guess would be (at least to start off)
Bread Stromer Fast
THE Mika Kakko
DiGi Fil HowdyHo
Pepe GregTheKeg KingJulian
Apprently THE was sick yesterday so might not be out there tonight. Maybe Buch and Igor were out getting him some good chicken soup?
simonkimbrell
Chytil and Kakko should remain together. Kreider and Zibanejad can skate Gauthier is the right fit IMO, the kid can fly!
Brooks writes: “I just realized that the car accident happened literally a block away from where I live! Were they coming to see me? I’ll never know now. ” Hmmm.
Fast helps us now in playoff push. Big part of team and locker room. Not worth moving for a 3 rd or worse.
Players like him do not require pressure to sign or trade their UFA year. They can negotiate this summer and sign to team friendly deal if he’s happy here or if a team wants to give him an extra million as a depth veteran player, good for him. Go make your money while the sun is shining. As Wicky and others said. No pressure either way
I’m presuming the lack of a call up means Kreider is good to go? Haley is out so with Butch & Igor out too, we only have 21 available do we not?
Bad maths…..20
Beezle
As far as night entertainment, there’s not much to do around Ocean and Z other than countless sushi restaurants, humongous big Russian gourmet food market. Maybe they were going for some late night clam chowder at Randazzo’s?
LMFAO, Coos!
Who plagiarized? I guess we’ll never know 😉
Please suspend Igor’s license?
Where there’s blame there’s a claim!!
THE has been given a lot of credit for talking to, indoctrinating, and welcoming the Russian speakers. His last advice to Igor was, “Forget about Uber and taxis. Get your own car.”
NYC Detective Flash: The accident was indeed at 8 o’clock, but it was 8 AM and they were on their way home.
They are allowed an emergency call up if both Kreider and Buchnevich cannot go. I’m guessing one, if not both, figure out a way to play. If they both can’t go, I would take a look at Kravtsov for a game.
No action on Lias yesterday. Not surprising. Guessing at the draft/over the summer he will be traded.
lol – I think I heard Fox say that Lindgren was very serious and ‘scary.’ Then he (Foxy) goes out and throws a mammoth mid- ice check to an opposing irritant. He’s learning that if you wish to avoid stitches, hit hard and first.
Fish need this game tonight. Will they play it tight and cool or try to run us out of the building?
Am I a bad person for thinking Buch looked like Cameron in Ferris Bueller?
https://gfycat.com/openpoliteilsamochadegu
If you look at this team down the road a bit, they are in really good shape. They could use an NHL ready top 9 forward, but even the forward depth has gotten better. The Gauthier addition was a good one, and I’m curious to see what happens with Barron. Hitting on a guy like Barron would be huge. Also from what I can gather with the little information I can find, it’s sounds like Kravtsov is really coming on. I know he’s been scoring at a better rate of late ( look, I rhymed), so that is a very good sign.
BdL on Fire this AM
Agree with everything
What does James even have to bring to the table?
Content James instead of Angry James I guess it will be.
Buch finally crossed the Rubicon into my heart when he creamed Marchand with a forceful cross- check backing up his prone teammate Lindgren. Bravo, Mister Happy!
Just looking ahead to the upcoming schedule it will be more than amazing if they survive the next 13 games to have a chance to make the playoffs
isles, Habs, philth, philth, Blues, Caps, dirt devils, Stars, Avalanche, Coyotes, Flames, pens, and pens!
BDL is a poet, loves to show it, the blog knows it, flowers we grow it, yards we mow it….

Right!
That was a most delicious cross-check
Kooz said hard
Minx I just hope Georgie does not put too much pressure on himself tonight. Will help if we can get an early goal from the Legend!
Vegetarian Pacifist carrying sign: ‘Peas In Our Time’
Cregg, Life is putting hockey on a lower rung this week. Can’t be fired up for any of this stuff.
Hope all is ok James.
Positive vibes to you man.
You want an early goal from the Legend? Is that quoting you Acura tly?
The Legend will go down as the best top 6 RW who isn’t a top 6 RW in Ranger history! Book IT!
Gorton did the right thing, but Skjei, even with his deficits, is 3X the Dman that Staal is.
4x
Courtesy of BSU:
🎼🎤You Skjei Goodbye, and I Skjei Hello, Hello Hello, I don’t know why you Skjei goodbye I Skjei hello🎤🎼
Post above updated for the official breakdown of Kreider’s contract.
That’s Captain Happy!
How many back to backs in those 13 games? Hank will probably get some of them unless Georgie is too smoking hot to take out of the lineup.
By the way, if both Kreider and Buchnevich can’t go tonight, they will only have 17 skaters, need 18. Will need a call up.
ORF
Only 2
That they got three years of modified NTC on this is amazing. No question this was a hometown discount deal. He really wanted to stay.
They could deploy Brendan Smith as 4th line wing and 3rd pair D but DQ would need to work hard at his deployment so we don’t end up with 4 players on the ice at times!
If Skjej is 3X the dman Staal is he would be getting 15M
All Staal needs to do is cross-check Marchand and we can be done with this weird Staal-bashing obsession.
Hope all is well, James
bobby – ah, forget it.
Anyone with a brain can see that Management would sell Staal to the highest bidder if they could find a bidder and Staal would go. Logic: No brains.
Nobody wants The Ent or Smith at their cap hits.
only one more year after this one Coos!
Like being married to Maxine Waters ONLY for another year.
How’s the advanced glaucoma coming along, Norm. You watching tonight?
I’m done with carp…just listened to a podcast with him and he used my fast take, my SkjeL take, and my trouba take?!
Wtf blogfather?!
Can’t ge get his own material?!
Sheesh!
Wicky
We supply all the material for the beat writers!
If I’m a sportswriter and I can get good stuff absolutely free, I’m on it.
Don’t feel bad, Wick. This morning including part of one of my posts from last night about Skjei. Verbatim!
Karl Hungus? Like aren’t you like a nihlist man? Like you belive in nothing …right?🤡😎
Stating the obvious but wow, was yesterday was a big day for Carolina (not passing judgment whether it was a “good” day)… Vatanen, Trocheck and Skjei is a heck of a lot of addition.
I’m here to fix the cable
He would have had to be very disciplined to just fix the cable in that scenerio.
A good point was brought up regarding finding trouba a partner from outside the organization.
And it may be the reason some folks are saying finding that guy may have to wait awhile.
The expansion draft.
Right now we’re straight with trouba, deangelo, and lindgren (keeping earning it tank)
But if we traded for an established LD with term, we’re back to having 4 guys for 3 spots. So unless it’s a young stud who exempt, or a guy with one year left on his deal (ahem, brodin) who is organically exempt bc of his UFA status (to which we re-sign him after the draft), or a stopgap we wouldn’t mind being claimed. It may have to wait until after the expansion draft. June/July 2021
Eli, between here and HFboards.
Your right. Aside from the notes and practice related stuff, 70% of the beats content come from the fans and people who care enough to really know
That’s good all around though.
Happy to help
Mind you, brodin can force his hand to the rangers in the same way trouba did.
You can trade me anywhere next year, but I’m a pure rental. And you’ll get a rental return.
If you can trade me to the Rangers who I will sign with, and then will give you the added premium other teams won’t, bc the rangers would like him in the lineup/organization next year.
The same way the Rangers sweetened the pot alittle for Winnipeg (trouba) and Carolina (Fox) instead of just holding them over a barrel. Fair deals are the best. Make everyone better. Makes for better hockey to watch. Makes for more trades in the future if both teams ‘win’ trades
Oh and I want to know exactly how much of the proceeds Dundon makes off these Ayres/canes T-shirts’ go to kidney foundation. I hope to heck social media journalists hawk dundon on making that little revenue stream transparent.
The very 1st tweet about, dundon made clear Ayres would get some royalities and proceeds would go to a kidney foundation, BC they were pushing it through to take advantage of the opportunity.
What Ayres can 3% royalties and 10% donation to a kidney fund and dundon pockets the rest.
That would be a joke
The whole thing should be chump change to a guy like dundon.
Subtract the production costs and whatever expenses, give Ayres a stepped in 💩 royalty percentage and give the REST to a kidney foundation.
Anything else is cheapskate 💩
Any update on Kreider and Buch for tonight?
Whoa I’ll stop with this one.
But that is juicy even if fantasy.
What if, what if , what if.
What if Tampa paid the price they did for Barclay goodrow because it came with a promise that Doug Wilson wouldn’t give Thornton to Boston?
San Jose Sharks forward Joe Thornton is frustrated that one of the top Cup contending teams never inquired on him. Thornton told Kevin Kurz of The Athletic;
“I wanted a shot. I’ve been hunting this thing down for 22 years.”
Karl – I just laid some cable
Hey Joe go have beer with Henrik and bring plenty of tissues 😎!
Question: If the NYR do somehow manage to make the playoffs, where are they going to get beards for all the kids?
No call ups, which means Kreider is likely good to go. I also suspect his “sickness” yesterday was more like”I am byfuglen sick of this contract already.” The practice was at 11, it sounds like they finalized his contract after 12. What was he supposed to do, show up in sweatpants to say hello to his friends?
Beezle- they will have to defer the beards to next season along with their performance bonuses. 🙂
AA, E3- Thank you guys
If they don’t make the playoffs, I am probably always going to wonder “what if” in regards to Igor playing the rest of the way. Still have faith in Georgiev. he’s been pretty great against NYI. Certainly some opponents on the horizon you’d rather have him for.
Agree on Kreider, ILB. May have been some trade day self bubble wrapping. Had some serious decisions to make. Understandable.
Now my brodin stuff is getting pilfered…unreal.
You’d hope they leave everything else the same and move Gauthier up to the right of Zibanejad and fill in the 4th line.
See if smith can rekindle some 2017 d man magic. Stout pair around the net with him and trouba.
If he hangs back a bit might allow trouba to play his game a bit more.
Weren’t they four points back? Now they’re six? I guess NYI and Columbus are going to play their next 12 games against Detroit and the Kings now? Typical.
Haha of course it’s yours.
Patent pending and all 😉
Honestly, I must have missed your brodin posts.
I mean brodin was being pilfered to us years ago as a possible return for mcd. That’s how I know of the dude. And I think of memory serves me correct.
I said back in training camp how it’s funny that a couple years ago brodin was redundant, but now would make a ideal partner for trouba.
Should we go back to the tape and see who said it first haha
The most diplomatic thing to do would be to point out how we keyed in on the same player. Must mean we’re both good
Wicky, NHL.com lists Lemieux with Kreider and Zibanejad. I’m worried about his conditioning, can he handle that many minutes? I’ll let Trotz worry about his defense and their jockstraps with Lemieux and Kreider (who must be pumped up after signing) going after them behind the net.
jpp,
Several of us we were having a convo a few days ago about Trouba and Wicky had mentioned Brodin as a good fit as far as a partner for him.
I don’t think he’s breaking chops. Just bringing up that conversation. A lot of us were correct in our assessments over the last few weeks. It’s all Saul Goodman
Ilb
I figured if Kreider was out they’d move Lemieux up lw to lw, but I know they’ve said they view Lemieux as a potential top 6 guy, but I wonder about his minutes as well.
Islanders fans are jumping through the roof that Pageau signed with them immediately… that Parise waived his NTC to try to join them, that Andy Greene, Captain of Mighty NJ Devils, waived his NTC to join them…
They now believe that the Magic of Lamoriello is building a destination for free agents, that players are gonna flock to Long Island to play in the Swamp, and that a Stanley Cup is sure to follow.
THE and Rangers went all the way down to the wire. Can’t help but wonder what Gorton’s Plan B was. You can bet he had one. This is the kind of stuff energetic Pro writers should have told us and should tell us IF they’re doing their jobs and not just twittering thumbs as they sit on the toilet at home.
Trump should hire some of these loyal non-leakers from MSG for the White House.
I’d like to know if the rangers would’ve approached things differently if the car accident happened last Thursday
Con Jecture – Musing by inmates.
James. Hope all is well on the life front. Hockey stuff will be here for necessary distraction when applicable.
I spoke to an Icelander fan last night. Its a bit disgusting how much they worship their GM, blindly believing everything he does will lead them to the promised land…. I guess of Elmont, NY?
What are you wearing, Nate from Veal Parm?
coos, I mentioned this earlier, but one way we might find out is from other GM’s crowing about how they refused to give up x, y, and z for the vaunted Kreider, whom I’m sure many fans were hoping to see in their laundry.
The problem with SkjeL was always he couldn’t play fast. You could see it when he came up the first time in the playoffs and it never changed…all the tools, just never got to the point of being able to maximize.
Seemed like a solid human though.
No SHL U20 defenseman has scored more than Nils Lundqvist in his current season.

Lamoriello was great—for the Devils.
Islanders fans need to be reminded that Sweet Lou lost out on Tavares, lost out on Panarin.
He overpaid for Pageau. An R1, and R2 for a decent player having a career year. Nice work by the Senators.
He also overpaid for 36 year old Andy Greene. And probably would’ve paid too much for Zach Parise, age 35, who has a crippling contract.
So yeah, Lou hired Trotz when serendipitously became available, so there’s that.
Your mother for $200, Alex.
Bye, Chris. And I am not talking to Kreider.
James

No, the jackwagon just left. Permanently. I think he forgot to hold the door on the way out too.
