Good morning, boneheads!
I didn’t see the ceremony, but here is the complete list. Pretty predictable.
Hart Trophy: Nikita Kucherov
Willie O’Ree Community Hero Award: Rico Phillips
Mark Messier NHL Leadership Award: Wayne Simmonds
Vezina Trophy: Andrei Vasilevskiy
Jack Adams Award: Barry Trotz
Frank J. Selke Trophy: Ryan O’Reilly
Bill Masterton Trophy: Robin Lehner

Alexander Barkov, by the way, didn’t do his team any favors while saying this during his Lady Byng Trophy acceptance speech. If someone knows Panarin’s Twitter account, give it to me. I’ll be happy to translate it for him in Russian 🙂

Good morning gents. ILB keeps ILBing me this week
Was saying you know what we have in Kreidsdale. But if you pay Buchnevich and he doesn’t become what we hope for consistently you’ve got a problem
James
You may be right, I may be crazy, but I have a feeling if he is on the roster opening night Buchnevich may surprise us!
Buchnevich name is out there in trade rumors. He’s a tough decision. I actually think, when motivated, he fits the way Quinn wants them to play. He is certainly not afraid. If I keep him it’s on a bridge deal. And if you bridge him, you are probably looking to trade him next year.
Aleksander Barkov………Love him as a player and he was awesome last night. Saw the clip this morning of his saying there are more fans from Finland here than there are in Florida. I imagine the owners really enjoyed that. That empty arena is a bad visual most of the time.
Luongo apparently thinking about LTIRetirement
sign buch for 1 to 2 years and let him prove he deserves to get paid more as a ufa. if we keep kreider and get panarin they could explore moving him, but otherwise i’d be in no rush to do so and would in any event move all of Vesey, Names, Strome and Fast before Buch
Keep strome and agree on short bridge “show me” contract for Buch. If he does well and needs too much money next contract you trade him for assets.
I’m not sure I’d move strome before Buch, but 100% agree on the rest.
I’m not sure I’d move Buch at all though.
The assessment could be whether Butch is redundant with Chytil, Kratsov (and Kakko) in the picture as the next gen LWs. The lack of consistency is a mark of a young player but he will be 25 at the end of this coming season and you wonder how long will he get the prime TOI he requires to be effective.
.
Butch for Pool Party would be a roll of the dice; would possibly need to expand the trade to include other pieces but an attractive trading partner, no doubt. A line of Lemieux-Andersson-Pool Party could be fun to watch.
.
Pool Party and Edm ’19 R1, #8 for VC, Names and NYR ’20 R1; NYR can draft a future top 6 pivot this season and free up $6.3M in cap space. Oilers need secondary scoring.

I didn’t know Wicky wore Teal shorts
SN
I’d do that trade
Not sure edm would though
Maybe another Gorton robbery?
Bread Man – Zika – Butch
Kreidsdale – Stromeo – Krapsoft
Pepe Jr – Howdy – Kakko
Lisa – Cozens – Pool Party
Damn good looking roster there SN
Pipe dream but damn good
Use the cap space to sign Kreider and Bread Man
Trade Fast and Rykov to Vegas for Clarkson’s $5M cap hit and Colin Miller (RD);
Smith to Hartford; Staal to 7D.
.
Shea – Tuba
Selma – Miller Time
Lindgren – Sharty / Fox
7D: Staal
Cregg
I hate baseball. I don’t think I’d ever wear teal. I have however, been known to not hesitate when a conflict arises to partake in said festivities.
😉
Is pool party, Pullarvi?
SN
Like the roster, but it seems a bit too young.
Bdl
Yes.
One of the worst nicknames here along with stromeo and ada.
Even if Hayes was willing to sign for less last Summer I assume he was still asking for the NMC and that would be a tough pill for Gorton to swallow. Ultimately the NMCs that Sather game Girardi and Staal and the one pending for Stepan were just as problematic as the $s. Without the NMCs Girardi and Staal can be moved and maybe they don’t have to trade Stepan an gunpoint. Let’s see if they offer Panarin one if it gets to that stage. He really seems reluctant to paint himself into a corner with them.
I don’t really care for Puljujarvi. I think it’s time to focus on center ice
KK Day -1
not sure how you get Panarin signed and re-sign Kreider as well as all of our RFAs (including Trouba who would get at least $6m+ in arbitration), keep the cap hits of staal, shatty and most of Smith’s and also still take on Clarkson’s cap hit.
Don’t think that’s a good enough offer for Edmn to move the #8 pick as too much uncertainty on their end with our pick next year and Names/Vesey not that good in the first place
I also don’t see the value of acquiring poolparty for the 4th line and cozens isn’t going to be in the nhl next year and maybe not the year after either
Draft party at my house!
Wick we’re going to need 3 dozen loggers and some Russian vodka. 😉
Here is a quick list of order in which I would, if possible, trade our players. This list assumes that we do not have to sweeten the pot to get rid of a player, such as Smith or Beleskey. There are also a lot of competing factors here, such as contract, expected return, roster depth, and favoritism for the player. For the purposes of this exercise, I’m taking all of last years “regular” roster players, any AHL players who don’t have their salary completely erased from being in the AHL, and the young guys we expect to make the roster next year. Finally, this is assuming that I am only trading one player right now, as the list would change based on who had already been traded.
Pure contract dumps
1. Matt Beleskey
2. Brendan Smith
3. Kevin Shattenkirk
4. Marc Staal
Contract dumps that we might be able to get something for
5. Ryan Strome
6. Vlad Namestnikov
7. Jimmy Vesey
8. Jesper Fast
Long-term asset management trades
9. Brady Skjei
10. Chris Kreider
If a player got traded for a conditional pick, was he even traded at all?
11. Boo Nieves
Young players that I had on the asset management list but took off because I think there could still be room for them long-term but am still fairly open to trading them now.
12. Alexandar Georgiev (could move dramatically once we see Igor play against NHL pros)
13. Anthony DeAngelo
14. Pavel Buchnevich
The young players with potential that I would trade only for the right offer:
15. Lias Andersson
16. Brett Howden
17. Brendan Lemieux
18. Adam Fox (could move dramatically once we see him play against pros)
19. Igor Shesterkin (could move dramatically once we see him play against NHL pros)
20. Libor Hajek
21. Filip Chytil
22. Vitali Kravstov (could move dramatically once we see him play against NHL pros)
The present players I would only trade if we are going to enter another rebuild or if someone blows us away with an offer:
23. Jacob Trouba
24. Mika Zibanejad
The Past (but if you twisted my arm I would probably trade him a lot higher than I ranked him here):
25. Henrik Lundqvist
The Future (I can’t fathom a realistic trade offer that I would accept):
26. Kaapo Kakko/Jack Hughes
Kreider cap hit this year is 4.5, regardless of him signing an extension. Do they need to remove Kreiders cap number in order to sign Panarin?
Catching up on some stuff.
Puljujarvi=Bust. Run, do not walk away from him.
ILB – Panarin Twitter –> https://twitter.com/9Artemi You know what to do 🙂
BDL – If you like Holmstrom and donovan then you are going to love my Draft preview. Hey, that was a preview for my preview. I just finished the final edits and will be posting it soon.
If we draft Hughes tomorrow, I would make a real run at Jesse P from Edmonton. If we get Kakko, then I’m just kicking tires.
Anthony, I disagree on Jesse P. Edmonton is not exactly a great development location, especially over the past 4 seasons. I think he really can be a solid middle 6 player who is good on the PP.
BDL, yes, they can add Panarin without moving Kreider, but they would have to move SOMETHING. A lot also depends on what the RFAs (including Trouba) get.
James
I can supply those, but not a chance on the vodka. We drink whiskey here.
Anthony,
The more I read on Holmstrom, the more I think he’s going to be picked in the first round. Donovan should be there for one of the two second rounders.
Wicky
I happen to like Stromeo!
Whenever I’ve watched the draft for the past decade or so, I’ve done it either wistfully (as we didn’t have a first round pick), or through my fingers out of fear of how the Rangers would screw it up.
The only other time I can think of where it wasn’t like that was 2012, where we were picking so late in the first (for good reason) that it almost certainly wouldn’t bother me who we selected unless someone had dramatically fallen.
But this is the first time where I’m watching the draft and am thoroughly excited for the moment when either Jack Hughes, or much more likely, Kaapo Kakko, becomes the new franchise player of the New York Rangers.
FWIW, Bob McKenzie put it at 99.999% that NJD take Hughes.
I think we will see Gorton kick it into gear after pick #2.
I think it’ very possible that we could trade back into the second half of the first round but I just don’t see any players falling to a point where it would particularly be worth it, assuming a reasonable price paid for the pick. If we steal a first rounder, then sure, go for it. But let’s say for the 20th pick, even a guy like Kaliyev, who I love, it’s hard to sell me on what we would have to pay to get that pick.
Has Trouba signed yet?
Edler, 2X6. Another bullet dodged.
Dach is a guy that I’d trade back in for if he starts to slide out of fear of his achilles tear.
Krebs* Doodie. And I would too. Still don’t know that someone doesn’t throw caution to the wind within the top 15 for him though.
Yes, that’s what I meant. Krebs.
A team just needs to have only one guy higher than him on their list to pass on him.
Rangers just need a good 20 passes
I actually wouldn’t be surprised if we didn’t see much action over the weekend. Why you ask? Because my mother-in -law is visiting! (ZING!)
No but seriously. Teams may be hesitant because of the cap questions
Just using Bob’s list as a marker for how scouts might look at it, he’s currently 10th. So right there, you know that being picked 10th isn’t unreasonable.
The next guys behind him are Boldy, Knight, and Newhook. I could easily see teams having any one of those three guys ahead of Krebs, even if one or both of those guys are higher on their lists than someone like Podkolzin or Zegras. So now he could be 13th.
The next 5 guys are defensemen. If a team is drafting positionally, they could all have a defenseman above Krebs. So that puts you into the 14-18 range. And if he falls into that 17-18 range, I’d be very excited about the balance of what we would have to pay to get him.
The moment you all have been waiting for (well, okay, the moment I have been waiting for) is here – I have posted my 2019 NHL Draft articles. You can view all of them at:

Enjoy!
Pete
Trading Names and VC adds $6.28M to current $19m in cap space = $25m+
Kreider is making $4.5 against cap this year
Brass can sign both Tuba ($6.75-7M/6-7 yrs) & Bread Man ($8-9M/7 yrs) and have left over for RFAs or other moves (Vegas trade) if needed.
It will take a whole season for the Rangers to make 20 good passes.
The Donner Pass
Hint to Ranger skaters: Finish your damned checks and the enemy will cough up pucks!
@RR2: The experts all said the Old Hag would win too. I have nightmares that Devs take KK
Cap this year nothing to do with any Kreider move/extension. On the RR2 list, I put Kirk before Smith and Fast/VC/Names before Strome. Don’t think SkjeL is on the block unless its a wow offer. Deadline might be different story depending on his play as well as kids coming up. Expect caution though as we remember MDZ.
SkjeL – never funny
SN I think you need to add at least 1M to your Trouba number.
think that’s on the low end for Trouba ( think in the 7s for sure), but can’t see Panarin signing for less than $9.5m and realistically less than $10m. Miller also makes $3.875m
So maybe not imposible, but it’d be tough to do all that
Trouba pay: 1 million per each individual goal scored.
McMonster got a modest number of Norris trophy votes. Seems like it had been a few seasons since that happened.
Russians dominated the awards 🙂
Collusion!
😀
High Marx
I’m gonna say this one more time. The last time.
HANDS OFF OF BUCHNEVICH. SPASIBO.
Just like Chevy is easier than finding out how to spell his real name
Pool party is easier
Pool Party bad one, but better fits THE.
Most likely to go
Vesey
Kreider
Fast
Names
Buchnevich
Ada
Ada?
I would take a flyer on pool party with a vesey/3rd kind of deal.
Think we are the ideal spot to build him up
Vesey a conundrum. Should be at least a minor force.
Yea yea coos coos 😉
ADA? Americans with Disabilities Act?
ADA – Armenian Doctors Association.
Alcoholics Don’t Assimilate?
Well done Anthony. I see you are coming around on Holmstrom. I think he is a guy who’s a surprise first round pick. Somewhere in the 20s.
USA Today has an article that lists the best player ever drafted at picks 1-31. Surprisingly, three Rangers made the list. One was expected, the second was a surprise and the third would only be a surprise to John Ferguson and Phil Esposito.
https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nhl/2019/06/20/nhl-draft-best-picks-history/1494080001/
Middleton. I think he was incorrectly considered an inveterate partier . Long hair back then got you labeled.
I think I remember Don Cherry saying (after Coach Ferguson said that the Ranger Smurfs were no longer going to be pushed around) ‘So long as John doesn’t throw on a sweater, I see no problem.’
Anthony, a great read. My only quibble with the later rounds stuff is I think Legare is long gone by rounds 3 and 4.
Doodie – You are probably right on Legare, but it is hard to try and judge where to track guys after the 1st round. I look at the different services I am using and have to guess. It was difficult this year because I was never able to get a guide from the International Scouting Services. I got used to their rankings and where the end up going. I had to use McKeen’s instead.
Steve Kournianos’ guide is interesting and it was his 2018 guide where I stumbled across Joey Keane. Maybe the Rangers can stumble across a couple of more of those type picks.
It was funny how I kept coming up with RW after RW to the point that i had to really look hard for anyone who played LW.
Acrobatics Doing Aerobics
Acrobats Doing Aerobics! Auto correct ugh!
Hey dubas is doing a hell of a job pushing marner to us via offersheet
Marner wants 5yrs 11.5
Dubas says he’ll only go to 11.5 on an 8 year deal
Hmmm wonder if that’s gonna lead to anything good dubas
Your walking him into an offersheet kid
Wake up or just trade him to us and get your depth and assets to sure up and makes trades elsewhere
I mean isn’t it obvious to dubas that he has to sign marner to the contract he wants or he will just sign an offersheet.
He gonna get poison pilled
I’d give up 4 1sts for marner.
Picks will be in the 20s, outside of next year
And with deft moves and asset management gorton will be able to reaquire 1sts and sign college UFAs ala Hayes etc.
If marners game.
Do it
Toronto just poached Tavares. Karma
Brooks has Kreider out the door.
“I’d give up 4 1sts for marner” In a vacuum, yes. But not on this team.
Brooks also had Buchnevich or Lias out as part of the Trouba package.
Kreider out the door? The return best be remarkable!
Actually, I take that back about Marner. I think he’s more of a two 1sts, a 2nd, and a third kind of guy. Needs a center to really excel.
Brooks needs to spend a bit more time on the bonehead blog, he’s losing it.
If the Rangers trade Kreider, I would think it would be after 7/1, for two reasons:
1. If they land Panarin, it makes it a lot easier to move Kreider.
2. Kreider’s value goes up with respect to all of the teams who struck out with UFAs.
I hope Brooks is wrong. They’re not tanking anymore. If you trade Kreider you need to replace his production on the roster for next year somehow. It can’t be for picks or prospects anymore.
I know I get you disagree doodie.
But I follow the team and I’m saying I believe the rangers are in the position to do something just like that.
Gorton can always recoup 1sts and get college UFAs. As things shake out over the next couple years, there will hopefully be guys either ready to break in and we don’t have the roster spots, or guys who have solidified themselves as NhLers being pushed out by kids ready to break in. Gorts can get the 1st round equivalents back for what he gives up.
It’s such a strong move. The way things are shaping up. I’d love to do it at this point
Obviously just my opinion
jpp, I’m not against the offer sheet. I just think you’ve got the wrong guy.
Give me Point for that kind of move.
Remember when slats threatened to trade zucc by the deadline if he didn’t resign. That brooks article could be that for Kreider. That it’s time for chris to decide if he wants to find a deal that works for both parties.
There’s bad blood between dubas and marner. That’s what makes the toronto situation like blood in the water to me
Brooks knows little outside of what he reads from others; less a reporter than a headline looking for a story.
If Brooks says Kreider wants in the neighborhood $6.75m, I would do the deal now assuming the years aren’t too crazy. Would rather extend our guys than give silly money to a UFA.
“I am that pesky, in-your-face guy who will be in and score goals in the dirty areas,” Perry said. “That’s who I am. That’s who I’ll always be”
Sounds like our guy
KD don’t get wrapped up with that. Don’t re-up and rely on them tontrade you where you want without gutting the team your going too.
No you have a better play. Opt in to your one year deal with golden state, get your 31 million, rehab here in NY and sign a fresh max contract next summer.
Yeah make the golden state take care of you. by opting in to your final year
Don’t sign anyway another 5 years on the hopes someone else does right by you
Typical Brooks. “Let me predict this in case it actually happens so I can say you heard it here first”
I don’t really follow the NBA, but if KD has a player opt-in for next year at Golden State he should 100% do that.
I generally agree – if they’re dead-set on moving Kreider, it happens post-free agent frenzy.
BUT
Here’s my 3D Chess conspiracy theory:
The Rangers basically know that if they want to trade Kreider to Edmonton, pick #8 (plus whatever else…Puljujarvi? Not relevant to the theory, tho) is theirs.
The Rangers, past Hughes/Kakko, have a list of 5 guys they consider “the next tier” and would be happy with any of them.
The Rangers do NOT have Dylan Cozens on said list of 5 guys.
In order to ensure that one of their 5 preferred guys makes it to 8, they’ve been pumping the tires on Cozens for months (signing his friend, rumors about buying him suits, etc), in order to get someone above 8 them to panic and bite, or for someone below 8 to trade ahead and grab him.
Not likely, but I want to believe that JG is toying with everybody.
Exactly I want Durant to play for the Knicks. But his best play is to opt in to the final year of his deal which pays him 31 million this upcoming season…. to rehab in Manhattan with his own doctors and fly out to golden state every month or so to get evaluated.
That’s your power play brother
Then next sign a full max contract with the Knicks.
It’s like getting that extra year
Golden state is just trying to talk him into doing what’s good for them under the guise of taking care of it. It’s kinda pathetic of them actually
Taking Care of him
Don’t trade Kreider. We’ll regret it if we do.
Here’s the deal. The rangers want back into the top 10, if they can do so via a package trade for buchnevich. That’s the preferred route and than buying more time with Kreider.
But if buchnevich can’t return the ammo to get into the top 10, they will deal Kreider to get the ammo.
My gut from what I’ve been reading and hearing
Brooks is usually in tune with this kind of stuff. So I don’t doubt him. The Rangers could be using him to soften the blow when they trade Kreider.
Ironically everything Brooks writes is the complete opposite of everything Carp said the other day. It’s speculation after exchanging texts with an agent most likely.
I find it hard to believe that the Rangers would trade Kreider for picks, decide not to pursue Panarin and not offer sheet anyone. What’s that mean exactly? That they’ll replace Kreider with Kakko maybe sign a second tier player or two and that’s the grand plan? I highly doubt that’s why they brought in Trouba and are actively trying to clear cap space. I got your Post exclusive…right HERE.
If you told me they were gonna trade Kreider for another top 10 pick and get their hands on Dach or Zegras and then go out and sign Panarin I’d say ok that’s probably realistic. What Brooks is saying is asinine. It’s a complete contradiction of everything we’ve heard prior to him putting that article out.
Maybe he’s just causing trouble because he’s pouting that they didn’t keep/ bring back his true love Kevin Hayes like he’s been insinuating they should do for over a year now. 🙂
Brooks, or the Rangers, ripped Kreider pretty good in that article. Don’t think for a second that someone in Kreiders camp didn’t notice it.
Why would (other than money) Panarin sign on with a stripped down Rangers roster?
The Mets have an 82yr old pitching coach!
Brooks says that Kreider was “too often not a physical presence,” then follows up with “always willing to go to the dirty area…and battle.” Which is it? Maybe Torts was right about Brooksie getting beat up at the bus stop and brain scrambled.
Kreider’s goofy haircut tells me he doesn’t need NY to be happy.
When I read the Brooks article it made sense to me because I have felt that Gorton’s evasiveness on the Kreider question looked a lot like his behavior related to Kevin Hayes. Hard to believe that if the Rangers were serious about re-signing Kreider, that they would not be further along. Of course, only Gorton, Kreider and his agent know what discussions have actually taken place.
Pejoratives are almost always kept between Management and the Agent. That’s one reason for Agents – so that bad blood does not develop and fester directly between the Player and his bosses.
I really don’t think the Rangers had anything to do with that Brooks article. He’s been writing about Kreider for a while now within the same context.
Larry really could be a bonehead, man. “IF YOU’RE NOT GOING TO RE-SIGN KEVIN HAYES THEN YOU MIGHT AS WELL JUST TEAR IT DOWN AND TRADE KREIDER AND NOT BOTHER SIGNING ANY UFAS!”
James,
I think that article was a plant. We are not signing Kreider and here’s why.
Here’s the part I don’t agree with. You haven’t kept any of your guys at this point. I get that they’re re-tooling but you’d think they’d keep someone other than Jesper Fast no? Kreider was the guy I thought would get a new contract. To part with him as well means you’ve chosen not to extend Hayes and the rest of the aging core. I totally get that and it’s the right choice. But Kreider is a bit different. You’d be trading a 28 year old who has given you respectable production and some really good playoff performances because you don’t want to invest in him BUT then you turn around and pay a more skilled ufa to “replace” him. Yes, you get more production and a perfectly acceptable playoff performer (the un-Nash) but you’re spending more money and giving more term if not the same. Plus you lose a physical player who really is the best (only?) player who can dominate along the boards and retrieve the puck from the dirty areas and be a presence at the front of the net on the man advantage. Not sure it’s the right move.
Since we’re discussing other sports around here today I’ll compare it to the Yankees letting Tino Martinez walk so they could sign Giambi. Pay your guy. Don’t boot him for some shiny new toy.
I call that a conspiracy theory, BDL.
Kreider is very attractive to teams that are Cup contenders with not a lot of Cap space.
.
Kreider has a modified NTC – 11 teams he cannot be traded to without his permission I presume. More than likely Edmonton is on that list.
Vegas and Nashville; two Cup contenders with little Cap space which may be on Kreiders’ list.
Hey if Edmonton wants to trade us the 8th overall for Kreider and a second rounder then by all means. We can take a center and maybe invest in a Kadri or Pavelski as a stop gap. But they’re still a ways away from contending in that scenario
Kreider has speed, toughness, sticks up for teammates, has lots of playoff experience. He’s finally healthy, and even though his numbers have been low enough to make him realatively affordable, we are going to trade him . . . ?
James the 1st paragraph of your 310 seems to be the game plan.
Right on BDL
That’s how it read to me
Dave, if i’m kreider i have the usual suspects on my limited NTC, including Edmn, so he’d likely block a trade there in the first place, but even if he didn’t i can’t see him re-signing there, which would make Holland unlikely to make the move in the first place.
If a 1st rounders in this year’s draft has to be part of the deal i think Colorado and the #16 is our best trade partner, but obviously they’d have to give up more than just that pick. I’m sure he’d happily go to the Hawks, but they aren’t giving up the 3rd overall for kreider, even on an extension.
So far Skjei is the only one they have kept. If you never extend any of your UFAs and trade them for picks and prospects you will be a perpetual lottery team. That can’t be the plan. Who are the core?
Dante Fabbro (Nash) would be a great haul for Kreider but NYR would need to take additional salary back from Nash. Could Granland $5.7M cap hit and Finnish be a viable middle line pivot; great playmaker for young snipers.
Don’t think Nash wants to move Fabbro but give to get.
17 in 66 games. Then,
21
21
28
16 ( injured)
28.
The knock on him is inconsistency. Seems to me he’s pretty darn consistent.
BTW the Trouba trade removed any excitement from the draft. They pick KK and then on Saturday they pick a bunch of guys who may be good in 3 or 4 years.
Me thinks Shea will finally have a partner in Tuba that will allow him to flourish. He started to play better with Lone Wolf but struggled with the other options at RD; Sharty, Bev, etc.
His contract won’t look so bad in 1 or 2 seasons if he continues.
I think Toronto was hot and heavy for Kreider at the deadline. If it’s a hockey trade, look there.
I agree that Edmonton is probably on Kreider no trade list, but if you are Kreider, don’t you have to think about playing a season with McDavid, and then become a UFA?
ORF, last year I knew the Rangers weren’t drafting again for about 6 or 7 picks so there was plenty of time to say goodnight and put my son to bed, and when I came back out to the living room a few minutes later Jeff Gorton was standing on the stage with Ke’Andre Miller. A lot can still happen in the first round.
I cannot imagine the Rangers traded back in to get the 20s. They don’t need anymore firsts. Now if you want to tell me they are making a big move to get in the top 10, that I could understand. There are quite a few top 10 players that are worthy. My personal favorite is Boldy.

James, who better to know what Brooks thinks than BDL himself!
Air defence artillery?
Tax Free to LTIR. what a coincidence, Tampa needed cap space, and now this.
LTIR. Many teams use this loophole to their benefit.
LTIR bull …hard cap was their hill to die on and they scheme to circumvent it
I see Tax Free has Degenerative I Am A Healthy Scratch And Don’t Have A Place On The Roster So I Will Go On LTIR Disease.
How is Shattys back these days?
BDL, that article is a plant, but you’ve got it backwards. It’s Brooks putting it out there on behalf of the agent.
send Tonya Harding to take out shattenkirks bad knee, than he can go on LTIR, than save 6 mil plus in cap space :-).
According to Tampa Bay Lightning GM Julien BriseBois, forward Ryan Callahan has been advised not to play hockey again after being diagnosed with degenerative back disease.
Are you kidding with this Callahan bs? The league needs to look into this “coincidence”
In other news the Lightning will re-sign Strålman and Point next week.
What good fortune!
Wow, at 34? That’s brutal.
His Cap Hit counts against the cap, except they can go over it by that number. They’ll have to be at the ceiling in order to use it. It limits who you can recall, and it will impossible to accrue any cap savings.
Is this disease contagious? Maybe Shatty and Staal should go hang out at Cally’s place for Fourth of July weekend.
Hank diagnosed with Swedish toe disease
Smith diagnosed with wedding cake fasciitis
Staal diagnosed With Wippleman’s cream disorder
Shatty diagnosed with Greasy Nicks syndrome.
I wonder if he knew he’d be bought out and decided to go LTIR route. I suspect that out of respect, he was given time by Tampa management to explore that option. They can’t buy him out now.
Have to think the league reviews all LTIR cases to make sure they are legit.
Of course he knew! Everybody knew!
BDL, Kreider might ok a year in Edmn but if you are Holland are you the 8th overall unless you are certain he is resigning?
For that reason it may be tough to pull off a kreider trade at the draft unless the teams have been pre-cleared and they already have talk contract extension with him or that team happens to not care about that
Frederick Claesson we hardly new ya.
I miss Pionk 🙁
Greasy Nick’s Disease? Jay Leno’s the nephew of the founder. Yummo burgers
Now Tax Free can go back to Buffalo and become taxable gain.
Claesson back in the cloudy brine.
Why are we trading Kreider? Sign him he is what this cotton candy crew needs to move the re-whatever forward. Get it done Jeffy, don’t exchange an Escalade for a Camaro. The Minx has spoken!
Pig oink on the Peg! New board game.
Somebody reported a couple days ago that Tampa may not be able to buy out Callahan due to an injury. This was coming
So here’s what I learnt today. And since the guy started being more and more clear with it. I feel it’s cool to post here
It’s arizona and Colorado in on Kreider. Other teams were, but it’s down to them to.
It’s Arizona 14 + player/prospect we don’t know
Or
It’s colorado 16 + player/prospect we don’t know
Then both buffalo and Edmonton are in on buch.
Buch/vz – buff 7OA + player/prospect
Buch/names- Edmonton 8OA + player/prospect
Better chance of the Kreider deal going through.
And it’s one or the other.
Both guys are unlikely to be traded. It’s whatever team steps up and cements the deal.
But even this is speculation cuz it could fall apart
For my bonehead family. If the dude didn’t end up spelling it out so clearly. I wouldn’t be.
Buchnevich actually has a lot of value around the league. Teams see him as a guy who can blossom next to their young center’s and who can be signed and kept for 3-4 years
i mean Edmn or Buff would have to be very high on Buch to pull those trades off, not sure i’d see it making sense for either but Buffalo even less so as they are farther away from being a contender in my opinion
as i noted above the Colorado trade seems like the most likely but we’d need a very good other nhl ready player coming back
Pete.
Legitly I was colored humored when the guy told me.
But the way teams are looking at it is that
Buch/vz is worth between 45-60 goals 70-100 points
Buch/names is worth between 50-70 goals and again 70-100 points
Teams that need results and wins to get in and try to make a run. That production makes a difference and as much as teams say they value these picks so much, the truth is within the league, that the picks are an unknown.
But yeah, he gave the Kreider deal a higher probability of getting done
And supposedly the rangers are really hesitant to trade buchnevich. They are nervous it’s gonna bite them and quickly
But he’s getting a ton of interest.
that’s interesting and while i like Buch i’d be ok moving him in a deal for another top 10 pick if a center or winger we’d like is there
but doing that youd need to be bringing kreider back or convinced you are getting Panarin or another winger via trade
You’ll always be my boy cally
It was a good run, I would have taken it
Get healthy. Enjoy the fruits of the hard work. Get back into the game on the development level at some point.
Guy was pretty adamant he didn’t think the rangers would trade both Kreider and buchnevich, it would be one or the other.
Depending on who makes the offer they like enough to take
Why doesn’t Buffalo throw ristolainen in there as well?
I’m thinking girgensons, nylander, risto if your talking rangers add to it
I’m thinking pool party, nurse, jones
Maybe crouse from Arizona
Jost/bowers from Colorado
As the +s
Guy said the deals could expand, or be simpler more smaller ones.
My friend paying attention to the NBA draft just text me saying the Knicks are interested in
Tacko fall and bol bol in the second round
They sound like names youse would come up with for an OTBG joke
Happy the Knicks got that kid Barrett. He looked like the stud of the draft
You guys don’t pay it. You think I’m pulling your chains or had my chains pulled
I kinda love that. I’ve been proven right so many times in my life, I love the opportunity
*buy it
Ye of little faith
Everyone owes me hot dogs if one of these deals go through.
Somebody make me look good 😉
Who’s busting chops?
Crocodile tears for Cally. Who is this doc?!
I dunno guys. Callahan has played like and has the GP resume of a dude with a bad back.
Maybe he injured his back carry all of those bags of tax free $$$$ into the bank.
NHL should call shenanigans on this!
NHL call sheneanigans?
Don’t they always?
There are so many funny elements to this
JPP – any other trade proposals? Those are very enticing but there have to be more teams involved in the talks.
Can we sign Alonso for his PP blasts? crazy
That’s interesting kakko was teammates with Georgiev in TPS in Finland.
See me I’ve been telling youse
Georgie my dog reincarnated/linked up with this Georgie our goalie and gonna all angels in the outfield kind of mojo.
🙂
SN
On those players it’s dwindled and finalized to those two teams, you know unless I’m sure somebody steps in with a better offer.
Otherwise, yes the usual suspects on the rangers are available but the guy didn’t anything to or willing to share
On the rangers’ other targets, he didn’t say too much more, said the other stuff was too sensitive to talk about on the boards/etc
RJ Barrett is a lefty 👍🏻
Handedness I mean. No politics!
Oh yeah.
And he said yes, there are talks going on with a team that needs help with their cap.
Guy reiterated if case this makes you guys believe it a little more and want to discuss, considering how much time we’ve spent discussing without any details
‘Some of it has been pretty obvious.
Not just the players, but also some of the teams.
We’ve also talked about Buffalo and Edmonton and what those talks are.
Arizona and Colorado for Kreider should surprise no one on here.
The pursuit of an extra first.
I’m not exactly sure what the expectation is. You guys are discussing it a day before anyone else is.’
(Said in response to a guy who said he wasn’t sharing much and why bother)
Alright one last one.
Wished the guy had posted this earlier so I could of just copied and pasted and it kept it clean and clear for you guys.
Enjoy it discussing in the morning
‘By now we’ve discussed or I’ve given enough hints to deduce:
The Rangers have had conversations with Buffalo and Edmonton involving Buch. Those talks have also included Names and Vesey, JP and Nylander. Nothing new to report tonight. The ball is with Edmonton and Buffalo.
The Rangers have talked to Toronto. It’s not Marner or Kadri. Nylander and Kapaned were mentioned. Nothing imminent.
As has long been suggested, the Coyotes and Avs have shown an interest in and engaged in talks about Kreider. The Avs have been more aggressive today. We’ll see how/if Arizona responds.
No one still wants Shatty as of 10:30 tonight. Par for the course.
The Rangers still would love to get in range of players they like in the draft. We’ve outlined combine interviews and guys they like, even if the board isn’t head over heels for some of those names.
We’ve talked about Vesey being viewed in a similar fashion to Pionk by some teams.’
(Some vetted guy)
Are we to believe the Garden has a big leak?
Oh but my feelings on it.
I’m trading Kreider before buchnevich at this point. Buch is gonna come in a good salary for like 3/4 years and probably start putting up 50-60+ pts a year, depending on where the rangers play him.
Easily see him break 50 pts from a 3rd line with howden and pepe jr. Who knows what the pt totals could be if he locks into a top 6 role. 4yrs @4.5 is manageable to pay someone playing 3rd line if he’s a pt producer there.
Kreider’s gonna have a big ask. They is his contract. Hayes just got paid. Kreider’s gonna make just as much or more
From 14 or 16 you can dangle the 2nds to try and get up into 10-12 if you want
I can link the sound cloud podcast he did a couple weeks ago that went through his background. He’s old PR. Worked with rosasco
Who’s kidding who coos. I think the question your asking is if I’m to be believed.
Or maybe it was marketing. One of the two.

kakko interview
TommyG
Tonya Harding clubs Shattered Kirk? Shattered Kirk cries out repeatedly “why why why now”
Gorton behind curtain…”why now…because we need the cap space you moron”
Jpp, I don’t mean to burst your bubble, but if Colorado had been offering a first and jost, Kreider would already be an av.
Special K is on his way!
