C3 with the extra f-it award
I tried my absolute best! Thanks!
Norm thinks if Fast had played, the game would have had a different outcome.
And Sittoo agreed.
Hawks 3 SJ 2 in the second. Hawks need to lose for Hughes…
Hawks 3 SJ 3
LOL bdl! You saw that, right?
Hawks 3 SJ 4

It was somewhat stale, C3. But you got me BANJing.
coos, I saw ya boy GMGM tonight.
Hawks 3 SJ 6
Hawks 3 SJ 7
Hawks need a mercy killing.
Quenville has quelled the Philly rumor. Hakstol is a dead man walking though. Maybe AV is in the mix.
Plz, let the Flies hire AV. Please!
I am not a business man.
You are in disharmony. I lived with the eskimos many years ago.

Hey man! You want some of what he got?

Great review they earned it, cotton candy on skates!
Good morning, boneheads!
Catching up a bit after an eventful weekend that we spent in the city.
This team has been painful to watch since right after Thanksgiving. Not talking about losses that we all expected. But the way they engage game in game out has been dreadful. Not getting into regular game schedule didn’t help. But I believe it’s a system issue. Another system issue? Blowing the leads on consistent basis. This one is for the coaching staff to fix.
The D is awful. Gap control is awful, and commitment level of some is awful. The coach opened a can of worms with all the benchings, now he’s put himself in a position that he must hold them all to the same standard, and he’s not.
Benching them isn’t going to help anyway at the moment. Who’s next, Andersson? He made a mistake, but his was much lees egregious than some of the older guys. The whole team needed Zyrtec for being allergic to contact for 2 periods. Namestnikov, McQuaid, Kreider are the only ones who have been involved in anything physical. Ryan Strome wants nothing to do with it.
When you bench a veteran player like Shattenkirk for poor play, you must hold ALL of them to the same standard. The attitude can’t be, well he’s 19. I am not a fan of the benchings. I think you let the veteran leaders handle it. Quinn has undercut the leadership group of this team.
He can’t keep benching people and telling them to play hard constantly if it hasn’t been working. His best approach should be working hard on designing/changing systems. He has what he has. There isn’t much available in Hartford in terms of forwards. Some of the placeholders will be gone. Systems stay.
I don’t want him benching people. That’s my point. But he did, so he has to hold them all to the same standard. Quinn’s job is to coach, not be the captain too. That’s the job of the players.
Question, how many of us Boneheads will survive the rebuild?
It’s a treading water team. Trust me I’ll let you know when it’s an actual rebuild because I was looking forward to one.
As far as the D…as I said during the non- go time thread, when you have Beverly, shattenkirk, skjeL, and pig oink as 4 of your top 6, your d is going to be not good regardless of what the other 2 guys can do.
That’s at least 2 d men too many that don’t know their aasen from a hole in the ground in the d zone.
But people keep “raving” about them but then complain about the defence…makes no sense.
DQ went to the whip early, at the first quarter pole, but these guys are who they are. It’s a roster make-up issue, not a ‘try’ issue. DQ feels the team is soft – well, no shat Sherlock. This will not be changed with a new coach, but with new players.
.
The league watches the film and knows that you just forecheck hard and press this D and the puck will be served up.
.
this is what a rebuild looks like, the first 5 weeks was folly.
.
The only good news is Haze is going to bring back a haul if he keeps up this pace.
This is what an underperforming team looks like that has 4 d men that don’t know anything about the d zone and several 2nd and 3rd line Nhl forwards that don’t consistently play the body.
Let’s not get carried away chuckleheads.
Many want the Rangers to not play whistle to whistle. But it seems that the same people have a problem when a play happens like Pionk getting an extra 2 for going after a guy when Henrik was run into (even though it was actually Pionk that hit Henrik). So it seems that those people can’t be happy no matter what a Ranger does in a play like that.
In the Az game we actually had 2 fights. 1 of those was by Smith (who I think had a good game – then he was benched vs Vegas. Lots of perplexing things going on both on the ice and on the internet in comments.
I agree with St Pete about how many Ranger fans in general will survive the rebuild. So not just Boneheads.
SN
Sell Haze to the highest bidder. If he keeps up this pace there will be at least 3 or 4 teams vying for his services! If Carp says it’s a rebuild, it’s a rebuild. Until this teams grows some onions they will continue to carry the Minx brand name. “Cotton Candy Crew.” Oh yeah the D is pathetic!
Sell Hayes, and have Zibanejad and Filip Boitano be the top two centers. What could go wrong?
Wicky – if we use ‘rebuild’ as the shorthand for rebuilding the roster, then, yup, it’s a total rebuild of the roster of that finished the 2016 season. You can say it; r-e-b-u-i-l-d.
https://media.giphy.com/media/11mCrV0Iu3QL6/giphy.gif
Check that – 2017 season roster
.
the only players left from the Ott 2nd round PO loss are:
Forwards: Kreider, Haze, Zucc, VC, Fast, Butch, Ziba
Defense: Staal, Shea, Henk.
.
After this coming trading deadline subtract Haze, Zucc, probably Butch, and hopefully Staal.
Gorton is a PR genius.
SN
Smith was on that team too
What they do with Buchnevich is going to be interesting. I have gone from trading him, or let him walk, to not sure what I would do. I have been very impressed with him since his second benching. If you believe he’s turned the corner you keep him. If you think this stretch of play is not going to be the norm, you trade him.
That series was the end. Still can’t believe they lost that series.
It is very clear there are many differing opinions of what a “full rebuild” looks like as well as what good asset management is and the length of any type of rebuild on the fly retool etc will be.
It’s ok though, I get it that it’s easier for some to rationalize the play of the team as “it’s a rebuild” instead if they just aren’t playing well. Like I said brilliant PR move by gorton and the organization. If they don’t play well under the new coach and system they pass it off as a “rebuild” even though it’s a treading water roster currently. A brilliant hedging job by gorton.
Like I said last season at the time of the PR move,in all in on a rebuild. When it happens, I’ll let you guys know.
Schools over, you guys can resume your state of denial;)
BDL
Ottawa made it to double ot in game 7 vs Pitt. They were a much better team then than they are now.

Kreider has registered 15 goals and 70 hits this season. He is one of only two NHL players who have recorded 15 or more goals and 70 or more hits thus far this season (along with Alex Ovechkin).
Bdl
Losing that series…yeeesh
That series was on tanner glass.
Turning point for sure.
With a row of only 9, our record is inflated by 5 shootout wins and 5 overtime or shootout losses. That’s an extra 15 points on top of the 18 we have on those 9 row wins. This in 32 games.
Rebuild or whatever it is the cotton candy crew label reveals I for one am not even close to denial!
On those 70 Kreider hits does that include logos, & posts?
Alex,
That doesn’t make me feel any better about it. The fact that the Sens took Pitt to 7 means they were ripe for a beating. The Rangers were better than the Sens, and Pitt was there for the taking.
Wait..Kreider is good?
BDL
and then Pittsburgh went on to win their second in a row. Ottawa had the best player in our series in Karlsson. Oh and Pageau was pretty good too.
How about announcing NEW POST when there is a NEW POST? Lazy, ignorant, egomaniacal upstart!
George McPhee, Carp?
Somebody mentioned little George making Tough Tocchet look like a silly goose. 🙂
THE has only 70 hits all season? Haze must have quadrupled that at least. Oh, you mean….?
As a toke(n) of my respect, I…
I would say the ledge is full again today but in fact most seem to be in the canyon of despair!
NYR have problems, no doubt. Some are a result of playing young guys, others are bad habits. We can talk forever about the merits of SkjeL, D’Anger, Pigoink, Kirk, etc but if your forwards do nothing much to help on D and are weak on the forecheck as well…
Consider though that we could easily have 5 or 6 more regulation wins had they only blown the lead by one less goal putting us in the upper half of NHL. Would the boneheads really be that much happier to be Columbus with 17 ROW/37 pts? Or Minny 17 ROW/36 pts? NYR problems are not unique.
Rabid Philly fans would love AV’s whistle to whistle, turn the other check philosophy.
Perhaps a light at the end of the tunnel?!? 🙂
https://nypost.com/2018/12/17/how-much-itd-take-for-james-dolan-to-think-about-selling-knicks/
From the Post article: “James Dolan did not rule out selling the Knicks in an ESPN feature published Monday, saying he has gotten “feelers” by potential buyers, but not yet a solid offer that made sense and cents.”
Hmm, I wonder what the Rangers could possibly go for? Forbes valued the Rangers at $1.55 billion. I say that we do like the Post writer said a start a GoFundMe to bu the Rangers and install Carp as the new President so that once and for all we know Sather has absolutely, positively nothing to do with the Rangers. In fact, I might even ban him like Dolan did to Charles Oakley.
In the East, THE is #28 in hits. Cedric Paquette leads with 116 in 33 games. As a team, NYR are #5 in the east with 823 in 32 vs Pitts leading 979. #8 Detroit has 715. #15 CBJ has 588, #16 Tor 586.
So either the NYR are paying someone off to inflate the hit total or we actually do hit more than most other teams.
The original Mara supposedly paid $500 bucks to join the NFL. At the time he said that he figured $500 was a bargain for exclusive rights to ANYTHING in NY. Giants are now worth something similar to the Rangers the way I figure it.
Best thing that ever happened to Girardi and Donuts was escaping NY.
The Giants are worth more than double the Rangers, which makes sense given the standing of the NFL vs. the NHL. Forbes valued the Giants at $3.3 billion (the Pats are second at $3.8 billion and the Cowboys are first at $5 billion).
Any way you look at it, that is a lot of fishnagels.
Kill all the statisticians right after you kill all the lawyers. They intimate that this soft team is really populated by effervescent bullies.
When I was in Disneyland a few years ago, my youngest said that she wanted a Mickey Mouse Outfit, so I bought her the Islanders.
DQ is also learning how to deal with professionals rather college kids. And I don’t think his staff (other than Ruff) have had these jobs before. It’s OJT for everyone. It spite of all of this if the PK didn’t suck they would be in a playoff spot now.
WFAN sportslady called Dolan a “vile piece of trash.” Dolan not amused and banned Knicks and Rangers from having anything to do with THE FAN. Any wonder that SalmonJoe rarely tell the truth?
‘Playoff spot?’ It is to chuckle.
Coos taking out his frustrations on the stocks again…
One thing about hits. That means the other team has the puck.
Lots of opposition interfering on forwards after they dump. Go right through them like chit through a goose. Punish them and draw penalties as well.
Controlling Puck is like a Midsummer’s Night Dream. See what I did there?
The guy who counts and reports hits must be an advanced alcoholic on anabolic steroids.
Well, at least two literary lions present. Whiskey and Eli.
Georgiev in net tomorrow
Quinn: “Georgie, I’m handing you the keys to my Ferrari.”
Ferrari? I think you meant Honda Civic.
Adam slow on the uptake. So be it.
No losers point tomorrow night.
@wicky these things are awesome and cheap too! https://bit.ly/2PK0qZc Ironic that the UPS truck got stuck turning around at the top of the luge run delivering them this morning
Minx I’m starting to think you would return winner’s points too!
Beezle
Those look like they would do the trick.
Beezle
It was a rhetorical statement. I always want them to win. Just don’t think they’ll beat the ducks with Boy George in net!
Minx broke the blog!
Good morning, boneheads!
Wicky broke it!
On a positive note- Game Day!
Wicky may have broken the blog, but Sather can fix it with Dolan’s money
Will the free-fall continue?
Their-a free, free fallin’
(Free fallin’, their-a free fallin’)
Yeah their free, free fallin’
(Free fallin’, their-a free fallin’)
Will the free-fall continue?
Does DQ allow the players to join a fraternity or do they live together in booster housing?
SN
They can live off campus but study table is mandatory every night after dinner.
Wick, I think Gorton is doing a full rebuild. Unfortunately it looks like he is on track to rebuild the version of the Rangers that couldn’t win the Cup over the past 15 odd years!

rangers wearing white tonight. i think ducks with 3rd jerseys
roster freeze for holidays starts tomorrow night
Thanks C3 I, no, we needed that! McDavid to the Rangers for? That is an interesting question!
maloney says we’re 30 or so games in on what will be a 2-3 year process
https://soundcloud.com/jaygeemsg/bleeding-blueshirts-ep-33
Duh.
Did he say ‘rebuild’? (ducks)
Maloney may be an optimist. In two or three years Kratsov, Shertorkin, Hajek, and Miller may be in NY. I f they have them and the Breadman does that make them a “contender”? I don’t think so, but, maybe worth watching. Also is DQ still here or has he taken his money and gone back to the NCAA where he gets to pick his own players?
Has Maloney mentioned when they may at least become watchable? Baby steps.
Two years would be the Boston model that gorton mentioned.
A definite on the fly situation.
Pete
It’s always possible and what I would prefer, but at this point it certainly isn’t a “full” anything, it’s treading water.
They are calling it a rebuild, while they are treading water. If and when Hayes is traded, treading water ends, and the drowning begins.
Shoulda kept Talbot 😀
R.I.P Myrna Turner.
It’s not just about trading Hayes though (or Zuc, etc). They have to stop playing Hank as much sooner rather than later or else they will keep accumulating points and we will be looking at an 8-15 pick.
—-
And when they do make the inevitable trades we shouldn’t be taking on the Spooners of the world who again just make us meaningless competitive after the deadline. Assuming they plan on chasing Panarin, this is the year to bottom out and get the highest draft pick(s) possible since they could be better with Panarin (or whoever) next year and thus their draft position would be hurt.
Yea I was being facetious Wick. We aren’t on the path to a contender unless they follow the path noted above re Hank and others. Our current talent pool is too shallow and no true game breakers in the pipeline or in the NHL
Until proven otherwise, I think they are afraid to bottom out.
My feeling is, they have come this far, why not go all the way. Trade, Hayes, Zucc, Kreider. Pretty much anything that isn’t nailed down.
Gotta go for a top 3 pick, game changer, game breaker, difference maker, it’s an absolute must. Anything else is unacceptable! You all know the Minx is right!
Hope Gorton welcomes the Coach’s input. If you want him to present the finished Meal, let him at lest help shop for the Groceries. (and garnishes)
Traid Shampoo Boy so we don’t have to watch him biatch and moan for the next 2.5 seasons.
Gorton really fugged up last year trading JT for Names who is currently on pace for 28 pts if he stays healthy… Would have liked to see JT playing for DQ.
.
And for all the AV apologists, and there are many, he was a horrible coach for younger players. Reputation earned in Vancouver and further reinforced in his tenure here. That Gorton gave Elaine one more ‘kick at the can’ says lots about his judgement (lack thereof)
Nothing worse than ennui -inducing boredom and mediocrity in Sports, and the Giants, Knicks, and Rangers are delivering.
Pete I don’t think anyone really wants to willingly create a culture of losing just for the hopes of getting a high pick and then the further hope that the guy is the real deal.
Our D corp is laughable. In front of Hank, the opposition checks our Dmen out of the crease area if they rarely dare to get too close, instead of the other way around. Truly pathetic. Our guys serve only to further screen Hankquist.
You aren’t creating a losing culture by doing that for basically only 1/3 of a season. Most of the players that will be given ice time after the trades are made will be back in the ahl or hopefully cut/traded when the season is over anyways. And to be clear you aren’t telling the guys dressing that day not to try and win (though I’d be fine with that if it’s two games left in the season to be honest!), but rather you just make it harder for them to win based on who is in the lineup and getting the most minutes. Racking up OT losses only hurts the future of this franchise at some point!
The bigger issue for treading water while rebuilding is the so-so performance of Selma Hayek in Hartford. Realizing he is a supposed to be a stay-at-home Dman but 0-3-3 (-2) in 28 games is a head turning stat.
In less games (22) Crawley is 3-6-9; (-9). Lindgren also 0-3-3 (0) in 25 games.
This team will not need any help losing games after the deadline. Shampoo Boy may need a convenient injury so not to go off the rails.
Finally, Tkachuk on Ott is just lighting it up. That is what a top 5 pick can do. 10-8-18 in 24 games.
Absolute beast.
I’ve been seeing the Hajek narrative lately. It’s a load of crap!
Tkachuk is no Wahlstrom.
Is it a full rebuild or the full Monty?
I got a question?
Who’s coming to play tonight, bc I’ve watched the last two games and it hasn’t been enjoyable. I don’t give a hoot if they win, but by god, play hard. I won’t tune in to be frustrated by lack of emotion or effort.
JPP
i’d wait until the rebuild is over if i were you
well,
Thanks for popping my balloon Alex
Enjoy the game machoist (lover of pain)
Jeff carter pulled a power play huh. Hey Kings, if you trade me, I’ll retire and you get hit with the cap recapture for 4 years.
He holds all the cards. Ducks or sharks ?
Anyway. This isn’t a rebuild. It’s treading water, it’s a retool, it’s a sham, its a reload, it’s a PR move, it’s already a failure, it was already over 3 weeks ago.
Truth is, I pray it’s a full rebuild and none of the above. Yet I get what wicky is putting down. Rangers with AV around treated the fans like dummies, maybe this is all just lip service and everyone’s a shill.
Butttttt, if carp says it’s a rebuild, I believe it’s a rebuild. Not like carp was ever on the payroll or anything.
Wait what?
What do Kyle dubas and Tom Brady have in common.
