Good morning ‘heads. Well, I guess winning those post trade deadline games for “pride” were worth it to some of you. The Hurricanes and their 3% chance wound up right where Jeff Gorton and the fans had hoped to be- the top 3 along with Buffalo and Montreal. Meanwhile, back in Rangers land our boys technically slid from 8th to 9th in the draft order.
Fwiw, This was written by Bob McKenzie Friday: https://www.tsn.ca/the-big-four-solidify-spots-in-tsn-draft-ranking-1.1066345
basically he says the drop off comes (naturally) right after the 9th pick. With most scouts agreeing that picks 6-9 are interchangeable.
Clearly with the entire hockey world being in agreement about this, Gordie Clarke will select off the board as he always knows something the rest of the hockey world doesn’t.
Here’s Carp’s take on the lottery results:

Jets just putting everything towards the net. Preds seem more methodical.
Do the officials get paid time and one half for overtime? #lookfortheunionlabel
Ice was tilted left in latter half of 3rd too.
What a game
thank God no shootout in playoffs
Why do the top two teams in the league meet in the second round? Playoffs are forked up.
every player on the ice for both teams including the goalies are quicker than K Hayes
Sudden death is a silly way to decide an important game. They should play out the rest of the OT period.
Can’t stand PK belongs in Premier League
I was surprised nbc stayed with last nights game and didn’t switch to nbcsn
Sudden death gives it all the excitement and tension.
Nothing like OT in the playoffs love it..Buttman hasn’t screwed this up yet..give him time
Man these 2 teams are fun to watch ..really pulling for Winnipeg though
Buff looked like Moe earlier..i thought he was gunna klunk those 2 Pred’s Heads Together Nyuk Nyuk Nyuk
Bill Pidto is at home in his footie pajamas having fun saying ROWMAN YOSSI’s name over and over and over
Every player on both teams, including the goalies, have mote grit than k Hayes
people who don’t follow hockey have no idea what they’re missing
Double Overtime. Sudden Death. Don’t change a thing.

Not sure when our boys will be ready for a series like this. They might soil themselves just watching it.

MUST WIN for NASHVILLE
Big Buff with the snow angel on the game winner.
The energy that was exposed JR lmao
what a game one of the best if not the best so far this playoff season
2nd round starting much better than 1st round competitive wise
love that the inspiration for that “nobody drinks till this guy sweats…” commercial was Kevin Hayes
Now it’s Tampa’s turn to even up a series
That would be 8 games played with 8 different winners
There was only one important game over the weekend…..and that was this one!!
While no one would confuse Great Britain with a hockey power, it is one of just six countries to have won a gold medal in ice hockey at the Olympics, having done so in 1936.

One interesting thing that comes out of our GM’s comments over the weekend is that he said they will not draft on a particular position, but take the best player available at the time – the one that has the best chance to be a good NHL player. So don’t expect us to target the best available scoring winger if one of the D-men they like drops down the board.
He also said they will look to move up, by asking those in front of us what they want in return – if that return is reasonable expect a trade. I’d say our pick plus a later pick and/or fringe player could see us target the teams in the 4-7 slots. Ottawa have no picks in 2nd/3rd, Vancouver no 4th rounder, AZ no 5th rounder – all 3 teams would love an extra pick or 2 , Detroit have 7 picks in the first 3 rounds so they won’t be interested.
I’m going to say if we draft 9th we take Bouchard or Dobson (both D)
Think those are standard responses this simon, especially as no gm is going to admit he left someone who he thought was a better player on the board. And not for nothing it looks like they drafted for need and apparent nhl readiness vs pure raw talent last year at 7!

Unless you are blowing a team like Ottowa out of the water I don’t need see them moving that pick. Arizona or maybe vancouver could be interested in Brady, our #9 and something else, but hard to see that being smart for us in this draft
I think because we have some cap space and plenty of prospects they don’t have to draft for organisational needs, like they did last season for 2 centers.
Most interesting to watch will be which GM in front of us takes a gamble on Tcachuk’s bloodlines and work ethic (and seemingly lack of goalscoring ability)
Yea change his last name and not sure he’d be so highly rated. Like what makes him a better prospect than Kreider? Not much that I can see and Kreider was never even close to being a top 5 prospect

Great Britain’s 1936 is USA’s 1980 🙂
No-one made a movie about ’36 though 🙁
