NY Rangers (33-37-9) vs Dallas Stars (47-20-12)
•11 April 2026 17:00 EDT
• American Airlines Center, Dallas
• TV: MSG, Victory+ •
Who shot JR? Can’t say that I remember but do know the NYR are playing game #80 in Dallas, Texas late this afternoon. Though Dallas is playoff bound, the game still has relevance as they are only four points up on third place Minnesota in the Central division with three games left for each. For the Rangers, the most relevant thing is the weather forecast for next weekend and whether it is conducive to a round of golf. That said, the Stars have had some ups and downs of late, 4-5-1 the last ten with recent wins over Minnesota and Calgary (OT). The NYR are 5-4-1, their last the loss against Buffalo.
Shesterkin (25-18-6, 2.53 GAA, 0.911 SV%) in net against likely starter Oettinger (33-12-6, 2.64 GAA, 0.898 SV%) for DAL, though this might be a good time to get DeSmith (14-8-6, 2.34 GA, 0.910 SV%) a game after sitting a week. Skaters should be the same as the last game for the Rangers. Dallas will be without Heiskanen (LBI) who has an MRI scheduled. Their complete list is a bit longer: Nathan Bastian (hand), Michael Bunting (lower body), Radek Faksa (lower body), Roope Hintz (lower body), Nils Lundkvist (illness), Tyler Seguin (ACL), Sam Steel (undisclosed).
The refs tonight are Stephen Hiff (66 GP) and Eric Furlatt (1604) GP. Both are pretty down the middle.
On this date in history: There is only bad NYR history on this date.

First!
5 O’clock and the Stars are out already.
A Dallas Stars TV commentator refers to Zibanejad as “the amateur DJ”.

Trivia – Jagr & Kreider?
Nope. not them.
Dave M sez “good period”
In an alternate world it should be the Dallas Rangers and the New York Stars.
Why is Vaaka9n in?
They’re protecting “little” Fortesque from big, bad Dallas, according to K&D

When is a loss a win?
Phew was worried we might tie it up
They needed to get the puck deep and instead made a bad pass at the blue line.
They played just well enough to lose.
Good loss ..played hard …this is best Laffy has ever skated and good for JT standing up for Gavrikov
“Who shot JR? Can’t say that I remember…”
Wasn’t it all a dream or something?

I’m just glad I can sort of root for the Rangers on Monday night when they come down to play the Panthers.
This is going to be the first Ranger game down here that I’m not wearing all Ranger gear. This is my last game of the season and I got a new Panthers hat last week, so I want to wear it before it goes into storage for the long off-season. Lol
Are Colorado Avalanche having an identity crisis? They should be required to pay a Québec impôt each time they wear those Nordiques uniforms.
The two-time defending Stanley Cup winners officially game a chance at the #1 pick this season.
