The Rangers play another weekend early afternoon game today against the Detroit Red Wings. It’s almost like the Rangers have become the NHL version of the classic “afterskool special” TV series on ABC from 1973-1997.
The Red Wings are struggling at the wrong time of the season, 4-5-1 in their last ten and only two of their last five, though with an important win over Philly. Right now Detroit (and a few others) are right on the cut line for playoffs so they should be looking to hammer the Rangers. And which Rangers might that be? 3-6-1 in their last ten with a block of three in a row over fellow has beens NJD, FLA and CHI. With Quick returning as netminder in what well may be his last career start, one would hope the team around him steps up and gives their best effort.
Quick (5-16-2, 3.18 GAA, 0.889 SV%) today against Gibson (28-19-3, 2.61 GAA, 0.905 SV%) for DET. The Ranger skating lineup is expected the same as the last game with Sykora on the left of the fourth line and Brodzinski right wing on the third. Sullivan will likely try, special teams permitting, to get that fourth ‘kids’ line more TOI than the MTL game. DET may be without defenseman Faulk who had a LBI on Thursday.
The refs today are Frederick L’Ecuyer (1173 GP) and Chris Schlenker (539 GP). If ever there was a pair more likely to give the Rangers an extra PP or two, this is it.

Really like this kid chmelar. 6’4″, can skate, play 2 way game and has some offense. Perrault is a good play maker. Get a sniper for Perrault.

Started watching rangers a few weeks ago and there actually been watchable with the young kids up playing for the rangers. Hopefully get a toop 5 pick with other picks and draft well, few trades, could be a good team again.
