NY Rangers (21-25-6) vs Boston Bruins (30-20-2)
• 26 January 2026 19:00 EST
• MSG, NYC
• TV: MSG, NESN, TVAS, NHLN •
The Least in the East NY Rangers will take on the Boston Bruins at MSG tonight, a return from a west coast trip they would very much like to forget. They would also like to forget the absolute beat down the Bruins put on them a few weeks ago on a Saturday afternoon in Bean town, 10-0. Here’s hoping for improvement tonight.
Boston has been hot, 8-2-0 in their last ten with recent wins over MTL and VGK. The Rangers are 2-7-1 and losers of three straight out west, preceded by a win over the Filth in Philly. Word is that Carson Soucy has been wrapped in bubble wrap and put in a shipping container to be sent to Belmont Racetrack. If the NYR win the daily double it is likely to be a 2.10 payout.
Claims are made that Korpisalo (10-8-0, 3.08 GAA, 0.897 SV%) will be in net instead of Swayman (20-12-2, 2.89 GAA, 0.903 SV%) tonight against Quick(3-11-2, 3.20 GAA, 0.885 SV%) for the Rangers. Side note: it is embarassing that NHL.com hasn’t figured out that Martin is a goalie and that Shestrerkin is on IR. As to other lineup moves, Brodzinski reported to still be in the dog house but forward Blidh has been sent back to Hartford and defensman Mackey sent back to MSG so guess he’s back in? No, you aren’t the only one scratching your head on the revolving door between Hartford and MSG.
The refs tonight are Brian Pochmara (1243 GP) and Liam Maaskant (20 GP). Pochmara tends to give the home team more power plays. At this stage, hard to say if that is good or bad for the Rangers. Hopefully it is good!
On this date in history: In 1998, Adam Graves recorded his 200th goal as a NYR and 9th in team history, in a 4-1 victory over the Capitals.

Dreaded pregame ceremony
Boy, did that ceremony make me sad🫤
My daughter is the age I was when NYR won in 94 😭
All this “celebration” and tribute to the past looks kind of ironic under current situation and circumstances …
John Amarante’s grandson!
John A cheered me up a little 🙂
Top 6 like getting steamrolled
Let’s see if they can hold them to 9 tonight.
LGR!
Boston hasn’t been doing too good lately. This should be just what they need.
They have the loser jerseys on. Not a chance tonight.

The 94 team could beat the 25-26 team
Its a sad statement that Maloney just made that we survived the first 5 minutes…. at home…

Gravy your daughter is 26? Congrats!
So … nobody knew Rempe was coming back? Great sports writers in NY. And what was the point of calling up Mackey tonight? Just to eat cap space?
Mackey is back in town Baby!!
Brought up d man as extra in case
They didn’t want to put Soucy in since trade seems imminent
Brodz really in dog house for Rempe to replace him
Bobby Don’t know Nuthin Darin = Good Golly Miss Molly Missed It
Rangers trying very hard in 1st to not let Radek Dvorak down.
Did Hankus just call Geekie Geico?
Messier with Hair.
I was There
Alex – Mackey was recalled for… ? They knew Soucy was bubble wrapped, they did not have practice. Were they affraid one of the others was going to get mugged on the way to MSG?
Glad we’re so careful with the puck
J T GIVEAWAY
Beezle
Regarding d men in particular they always want an extra just in case
And Mackey this time might stay up unless the deal involving Soucy fizzles out
What the hell is the captain thinking
Alex – I get it if they are on the road in case someone gets hurt, hard to air mail from Hartford. But they knew everyone one was healthy tonight so seems a pointless add to the cap for one day. If someone gets hurt, they are playing back to back NYI next, right? Guy could drive right to Elmont if they had to.
#1 Draft Pick couldn’t clear
Geekie, he had a rough childhood with that name
Nice job by Laff.
When the going gets tough…
Take a penalty.

Since they’re using ltir I’m not sure there is cap hit since they can replace up to an average nhl salary of about 3.5 million
And when using ltir they can’t accrue cap space. Which this year they won’t need anyway
Plus they sent the forward down today
Hope Geekie didnt have a trapper keeper or a pocket pen protector

Seems to be 3rd coming back
And that would mean pick # 84 approx..does Gonchar have a 148lb brother for us?
Verhoeff here we come!!

I think the pick in third rd in 2025 draft was first in round 3
Or at least very early being a San Jose pick
So not every third rd pick is the same
so 65th for current 78th. not a total loss
Drury got what he could. It gets harder now. Trochek may be next. Bread will go down to the wire.
3rd line credited with 14 hits tonight. They are hard to play against.
I don’t think Trocheck gets traded until Olympics done
Woot woot woot
what a pass.
3rd rounder fine …some were saying he was untradesble
Sushi to the fish sticks for a 3rd
Woot woot woot woot
Tank is off.
Does quick get assist
Robbie Robertson!!
Robertson can skate. He needed to stay healthy. He and Laba are the finds for this dismal season.
Oh well. Can’t lose them all.
Losing sight of the prize by winning
Did Fave M say it was their 6th win at home? Ouch
Imagine driving the net …Meeka had a chance and took the puck into the corner instead …he sucked tonight
Meeka doesn’t wanna risk the hit he could absorb….really hooe.Silent Chris has asked him about waiving his NMC
I can’t really root for them to lose. They should have won this regulation if Miller’s line played some D.
Drury has to move some players to lock in the tank. Players don’t tank. Managers decide to tank.
Soucy deal official
Have to give props to Panarin. The man plays hard. Knows he’s gone, and still gives everything he’s got. Great regular season player. Wish he had been as good in the playoffs, as he is in the regular season.
Miller, on the other hand, has been disgusting. Have lost a lot of respect for him. He’s going to have a lot to prove next year v
Cannot understand what is the problem with Miller besides a nagging injury that he just has to play through to prove to us how tough he is. His lack of hustle and his really Bad play in D zone is troubling. And we have him under contract for how many more years?
When Bread and Trocheck are shipped out I would love to see Laba and Perrault in OT.
Perrault is an elite passer and goes to the net. He needs to work on his skating and strength in the off-season. He engages, but needs to have the tools to succeed.
Overtime play really magnifies the lack of speed among the forwards on this team
Perrault has come a long way since last year. Thrilled with his trajectory. Work ethic seems to be there.
Robertson! Wow. Even before the ot goal I thought he was playing so well with a lot of confidence moving around with the puck to gain time and space. Seems like a strong kid with speed and instincts without taking unnecessary risks.
Morrow looked better last night too.
Sorry, GGMM told me no need to rush reporting on NYR anymore 😉
