Quick turnaround with another game (at MSG) tonight so let’s just keep this post running until the next Go Time.
Rangers went on a quick trip to Detroit and, as expected, won the game 4-1. Why? Because it was on the road 😉 A great night for Laba, a Michigan native who had about a quarter of the arena filled with his friends and family, at least it was a very large number. Panarin and Lafreniere finally got on the score sheet after long droughts as well. Cuylle got an early goal on the PP as well as a nasty bruise from blocking a shot with his leg. It was a good overall effort, not much slacking off in this one. One thing of interest was a later game change in defensive pairings to put Schneider on the right of Soucy and Robertson back with Borgen. Might see that again tonight based on Sully post game presser. Game stats:

The Rangers are on the the road tonight for a quick stop for lame pizza in Detroit and a tilt against the much improved Red Wings. Given that they are on the road, expect the NYR to score at least three goals, maybe six now that Panarin has again shaved his head.
After their three game, two OT win streak was broken in a loss at MSG to Carolina, the Rangers come into this game 4-4-2 in their last ten. The Red Wings have slowed just a touch, 6-4-0 but having recently lost to VGK, an OT win over SJS and a loss to ANA. Detroit has the #9 and #7 PP/PK respectively while the Rangers are #31 and #9. Is it better if the Rangers don’t get any power plays so as not to be deflated if they fail to score? Coach won’t say that but…
Quick (2-1-0, 1.35 GAA, 0.941 SV%) is expected in goal tonight against former NYR Cam Talbot (5-1-0, 2.76 GAA, 0.897 SV%). The lines have been rejuggled again as well, Raddysh moves to top line RW with Panarin and Zibanejad. The third line will be centered by Laba with Sheary on the left and Brodzinski on the right. Rookie callup Jaroslav Chmelař will get his first start on the left side of Carrick and Parssinen. As a result, Edstrom will be Prucha’d for the first time this season.
The refs tonight are Brandon Blandina (311 GP) and Pierre Lambert (521 GP), both give a slight edge to the home team.
Keys to a Ranger victory: Somebody please score some goals, dirty or clean!
On this date in history: In 1975, the Bruins traded Phil Esposito and Carol Vadnais to the Rangers for Brad Park, Jean Ratelle and Joe Zanussi
