NY Rangers (7-7-2) vs Nashville Predators (5-8-4)

The Rangers get another crack at their first home victory tonight when they take on the Predators of Tennessee. Normally we might suggest a match against a team coming in 3-5-2 of their last ten and just one of their last eight would be a likely victory for the Rangers. But these are not normal times so the Rangers should be viewed as underdogs, regardless of a winning last ten (5-4-1), until proven otherwise.
Shesterkin (4-6-2, 2.41 GAA, 0.906 SV%) is expected in net against Saros (5-5-3, 2.88 GAA, 0.902 SV%). Shesterkin only has one shutout so far this season and tonight would be a good time to get a second. The rest of the lineup may see some changes. Perreault was recalled from Hartford, waving to Chmelař as he was sent back down. Trocheck is likely to make his return from the IR list tonight as well and sounds like Edstrom is well enough to play again too.
The refs tonight are still a mystery.
Keys to a Ranger victory: don’t get shutout?
On this date in history: In 1942, the Rangers played the last OT game in the NHL for the next 40 years, a 5-3 win over the Blackhawks (with two goals each in OT by Bryan Hextall and Lynn Patrick).
