We have another game tonight so just a quick game summary: The Rangers kicked the Pens ass all over the place last night, 6-1. Trocheck is a week to week situation, Parssinen got the nod last night. Fox with two goals, Edstrom with two assists and Rempe getting on board with a goal as did Cuylle. Zibanejad got the whole thing rolling with a shorty just 7 minutes into the game.
In a quick rematch, tonight the Rangers get a shot at avenging their home opener loss against the funny looking birds from the antarctic. The Pens are 2-0, having beat both NY teams this week.
The Rangers may be without center Trocheck who suffered some type of UBI midway through Thursday night’s game against the Sabres. As of this writing, there are no updates as to the injury or his status. It is likely that either Brodzinski or Parssinen would play back in if Tro is unable to go. If time permits this will be updated closer to puck drop.
The refs tonight are still on the savanna at this writing.

Liked what I saw from 3rd and 4th lines last night. All 6 players worked hard and it paid off in scoring goals.
Was getting to like Soucey’s game. Hope he is not out for long. Fox with 2goals but he still looks like he is not interested in skating back hard into his own zone to defend. I guess it is what it is;but it’s frustrating.

Fox always seems to labour when skating; it could be a style thing. As long as he keeps getting points, the NHL world will continue singing his praises. I take him as he is; I’m just not one of his biggest fans.

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but Mika looks as if he’s playing with something to prove. Since game 1, he’s been playing with purpose, jumping on loose pucks and generating grade-a chances. I really hope he’s turning back the clock to 2019 and has a few more all-star caliber seasons.

Laba earned PP and PK time. His effort on the 6th goal was outstanding.
They had puck possession while outhitting the Pens 30 to 14.
Igor should have had the one that went in, but otherwise was pretty good. The D did clear out 2 that were behind him in the crease.
2 total shots for Sid, Malkin and Letang. Pens in rebuild mode. Muse may be the right guy for the job.
Caps will be the first good team they play. Also first game for Quick. It will be an early measuring stick for them. Oil comes in after them.
One thing I have noticed so far this year is how our d-men are clearing the crease a little more vigorously then in the past. I am sure it will make our goalies happy. Just a little detail that over the last few years was on the decline.
I wonder if tonight’s game will a little more of an edge to it. Hope so.

I watched the 1st period. What stood out to me how good Zbad was, on offense and especially on defense. If Zbad plays like that, rangers will benefit from it.
I don’t care where the rangers are in the standings at the trade deadline but if I was the GM, I’m still trading panarin and recoup assets.

On to something?) Mika and Laffy played hard. Soucy looked good until he got hurt , it looked nasty i hope he is ok. Fox although not great defensively was engaged and scored. Love the 3rd and forth lines. Overall very happy with the past few games.

Don’t give the extra effort award to Zibanejad just yet. His play thus far is the result of having a new coach. Once he’s gained Sullivan’s trust, he’ll revert to playing as the smallest 6’3″ in the NHL.

We discussed that, right? Dave’s got a number of semi-irritating verbal tics. As did Micheletti.
Hank dresses like he’s headed to meet the Queen. Valley dresses like he’s going to a Tarantino movie with Freddy Mercury. Neither outfit belongs at a hockey tilt. At least VCat’s Kohl’s tailor is giving him larger suits this year to accommodate his expanding girth. But, they know their hockey and are (pretty) honest.
It seems to me that the Coaches have told Fox to shoot the puck more, same with Zbad. I have really liked the effort of the 4th line. Not a lot of skill, but good effort and if they can add some gritty goals and a much needed physical presence, it’s much welcomed.
They still seem to struggle clearing their own zone. Forwards flying the zone when the puck is still below the goal line, along with poor passing decisions. That is concerning and will be a bigger problem against better teams.
Next couple of games will give us a clearer picture as to whether they are contenders or pretenders. I hope it will be a good season, but my gut tells me to expect to be disappointed again this season.
