Series Tied 0-0

The NY Rangers took their first steps towards hoisting the Stanley Cup with a first round sweep of the Caps. The road gets a bit tougher now with a second round matchup against the number three team in the NHL.
Displaying their disdain for all things NYR, the hockey and betting world have this series going to Carolina. They all like to talk (endlessly) about the Carolina forecheck and man defense but really, that is just cover for “we want the Rangers to lose.”
Lineup wise, no changes are expected for the NYR. For the Canes, defensemen Brett Pesce is out for at least the next two games. This leads to an expected (second) pairing of former NYR defenders SkjeL (Brady Skjei) and D’Angermangement (Tony DeAngelo). Jesper Fast is likely out for the duration.
Some of the keys for the series will be for the Rangers to take care of the puck and avoid wish passes and blind drops. They also need to be better at getting the puck out of their own end on the first chance, not the fifth or sixth. Traffic in front of Andersen can go a long way to breaking up the man defense and giving more space to create chances. The Skjei/DeAngelo pairing must be taken advantage of early and often. DeAngelo is a turnover machine when pressed and we all know that Skjei can be … beat wide 😉
With Rempe expected to be in the lineup, many Ranger fans will be looking for a few booming hits on the likes of Aho, Svechnikov, Guentzel and Kuznetsov. Hope some of those come to pass, but more important is for every line to be involved physically, not just with checks but winning board battles and taking a beating in the blue. The game may be at 4PM but this is anything but tea time!
As is usually the case, goalie play will be critical. Shesterkin seems to have elevated his game for the playoffs while Andersen, though still good, looked a little easier to play against in round one than the last ten games of the regular season (when he returned from injury). The one area Shesterkin needs to be careful is giving up rebounds.
On this date in history: In 1994, Mike Richter had his fifth career playoff shutout with a 3-0 victory over the Capitals in game three of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. The win was also the seventh playoff win in a row for the NYR, a franchise record.

NYR stick on for a long shift after the icing.
I’m just thinking about all those passed up shots and bad passes. Rangers just need a good 2 minutes.
It’s never easy with these dumbasses
Get ready for overtime
Feraro salivating over Rangers getting a delay of game
Mr. Magoo reffing here
Can mMika win a key draw?
Just keep icing the puck.

Nix that last comment. Lol
faceoff in their end.
Thanks, Svechnikov.
🤣 good timing to notice kvechnikov first blatant foul
Ok, everyone can exhale now
Five down, eleven to go.
Have mercy.

PP’s 5 -2 favoring crazy canes.
Sorry I’m late to the conversation. I had rehearsal until about 5 so I had to catch the game later than the most of you on dvr.
The Rangers won so I really can’t complain. At this time of year….win….any way you can.
However there was too much scrambling around like blind mice in the last 3 minutes.
I guess this is the way it’s going to be…. it’s never easy.
I fully expect Mess to be dressed in a Vegas lounge suit next game
I’m glad they got the W, and that they looked very buttoned up (for the most part) after 40. But the final period… they looked like they were a combination of gassed AND sitting on the lead. CANNOT sit on a lead with Carolina.
two games; 30 minutes of great hockey; 30 minutes of disorganization and playing with an empty tank. We can beat this team. We have more passion and talent. We need to get our crap together and play more consistently.
11 mmore wins and you apparently break out the red velvet leisure suits
The Rangers start the playoffs 5-0 for the first time since 1994.
No penalties callef on Tuesday just to keep everyone on their toes.
That leisure suit looks like something Duguay wore in the 70s. Mess may have one in his closet.
Former Ranger Brett Howden with game 7 goal to tie things up for VGK
Stanley Cup champion Brett Howden?
Vegas is out. The Cup is officially up for grabs.
was it just me or did you guys think Fox looked OFF today? Great win. Very happy for Zib. Now more goals from bottom 6 Tuesday.
Vegas Golden Circumventers out in round 1 makes everyone sad.
Game 2 and 3 will be at 7:00PM EDT
“…30 minutes of disorganization and playing with an empty tank.”
It looked more like playing with fear than with an empty tank.
Chinese panic at the Disco. When Wicky was here, you couldn’t say Chinese.
Craps-addicted skaters from every team were rooting for Vegas.
espn/abc does not want red white and blue in the Stanley Cup finals
