The Western trip continues. Our boys are 0-2 so far. They still have a chance to try and salvage this trip though, but it has to start tonight with better PP, defensive play, and better execution overall.
The Ducks are 4 points out of the playoff spot, so they will be desperate.
As per AV, same lineup. Hayes isn’t ready to come back yet. Catenacci and Kampfer are prucha’d.

Grabs and Nash could play for anyone and anyone would be happy to have them. Our draft picks have been traded away or inexpertly developed. As a result, Gorton’s been chasing college kids and throwing them on Garden Ice while they’re still wearing their university beanies and jock straps.

Gone are the days when star players aren’t hit just as hard as anyone else, so in that sense Carp is right. No one ever went easy on any Ranger because Glass was dressed or stopped doing so after he got into a fight

Re fighting in the game. I don’t have a problem with it…within reason.
One of my favourite parts of hockey is the passion and animosity. I love the 5v5 scrums after the whistle in the crease or along the boards…if those lead to a couple of guys separating themselves from the cluster, I’m good with it.
I’m not a fan of the one dimensional players that contribute nothing else to the game and fight 25 times a season.
I’m neutral on the “staged” fights because I think it’s situational as far as my opinion of them (mcilrath vs Simmonds in the next meeting after the mcdonut cheap shot I was ok with).
To put it more recently the ducks Vs kings 3 fight first
First fight was like the mcilrath simmonds situation except it was for mcdermind’s hit on kase…Like the cliche, they got his number for later and it was later. Ok with that scrap.
Fight 2…I understand why it happen, bieksa one punched andreoff last time they fought and andreoff wanted a rematch, bieksa agreed. They patted each other on the backside and andreoff thanked bieksa for accepting. Was neutral about the fight until the end, clearly it meant something to andreoff and I’m ok with that one.
3rd fight…completely unnecessary, meaningless, and the kind of “staged” fight that I do not want to see. Not a fan at all.
While it only takes one punch for a concussion, it also only takes one puck to the head, one bad fall into the boards from a rut, etc for a concussion. The guys that have their brain turned to mush due to so many fights don’t exist anymore in the nhl.
I respectfully disagree with the opinion that the casual fan is turned off by the big hits and occasional fight. I think it is the exact opposite.
In a time of ufc, nascar (people love those guys driving on an oval having those big multi-car collisions), and high impact nfl collisions being extremely popular, I think the hitting, physicality, and occasional scrap are a draw to the casual fan.
The person that has played and been around hockey their whole life appreciates the great goals like we all do, but the casual doesn’t understand the nuances and skill. They associate with the hits etc.
Btw, I can’t stand nascar and the ufc, and rarely watch the nfl.
All just my opinion though.

Tom K, it was clear as a bell after the second Ducks shot (which just fell out of his glove) that Hank didn’t have it. Reminded me of a couple games last year where he looked totally out of it. Hopefully just overuse and not a harbinger of things to come. And what was up with that horrible defense? Seems like they can only have one aspect of their game going at a time and tonight it’s the offense.
If this team isn’t going to make some moves to make it better then it’s time to blow it up and get some good draft picks. They are going nowhere this season. Absolutely nowhere.
